Good news! And congratulations to Petty Officer First Class Julio Huertas.

The first of three I believe. So, we'll see how the rest of the trials measure up.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

although i'm gratefull that he was cleared, it is still "fuel for the fire" to the people we are fighting when we bring this to court. I'm not saying war crimes should not be investigated or tried in public, but i do believe that the sensitivity of the American govt/public toward hostiles and "kid gloves" placed on the Marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen put us at a great disadvantage. Even when a service member is cleared, it is looked upon as a mock trial, and no doubt in my mind that this will incident will continue affect and haunt his carreer. It reminds me of a warlord (2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment..it was their callsign) who was tried and cleared, but still had to put in a request an unconditional resignation of his commission in the United States Marine Corps because his name and picture appeared frequently in the news media saiying how he "murdered innocent Iraqis" prior to his trial and aquittal

I'm sorry, but if you feel so strongly about that, maybe invading Iraq under false pretense would not have been the smartest course of action?

Don't you think that action incensed slightly more people than this trial?

you're right, when you declare war on somebody for any reason it really tends to piss them off. what i was saying is that even though this SEAL was cleared, it will still hurt his career, as well as be looked poorly upon by Iraq...Glad to hear he was cleared though, and it is an unfortunite black eye on his career.
