Alas, no... Then, throw in the heckling he was getting while President Obama was campaigning for Sen. Boxer (who wanted her supporters to get "Tea Party" levels of excitement)... http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE63K0KS20100421 Now, I do not support the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", but even I think the gay rights activists are being a little to impatient. President Obama just reignited the initiative, and SecDef Gates and some generals are studying how to implement it. It's going to take at least a year...longer, if at all. The military isn't a great area to implement social experiments. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! HOLY CRAP can you even imagine the fallout that Bush would have gotten from this if it happened during his terms?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

What a short memory Bush supporters have . . ============== Around the country, police rein in dissent On a campaign swing through Arizona on September 27, President Bush was met by hundreds of protesters in both Flagstaff and Phoenix who addressed many issues but chiefly opposition to war. Reuters reported that, "As Bush addressed the Iraq situation in Flagstaff, a protester shouted out 'What's the real reason Mr. Bush -- oil money?' She was quickly led away." In Phoenix, police on horseback moved to reign in the protest crowd as it flowed off the sidewalks, provoking the arrest of six people, including legal observer Eleanor Eisenberg, Executive Director of the Arizona Civil Liberties Union. While the other charges have since been dismissed, the municipal court case against Eisenberg for obstruction and interference with authority is in pretrial discovery. ===============

wolfriverjoe 1,523 #5 April 22, 2010 LaFayette Park has traditionally been a protest place. Closing it was pretty unusual. And both sides have a long history of limiting protesters on road events. Both sides have often offered "legitimate" protest areas well away from the actual events. Bit of a difference between the two, IMO And Gawain:
The military isn't a great area to implement social experiments.
Experiments like racial desgregation? The success the military had gave the civil rights activists a solid database showing that blacks could do well in positions they were being denied in civilan life."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." The success the military had gave the civil rights activists a solid database showing that blacks could do well in positions they were being denied in civilan life. It took an executive order from Truman to make it happen. Also, anyone who has served in the Army (my only vantage point) and doesn't see tacit segregation is fooling themselves. Units in the Army are not representative of "society at large".So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! wolfriverjoe 1,523 #7 April 22, 2010 By tacit segregation do you mean self-segregation? As in the different groups generally keep to themselves as much as posssible, particularly during off-duty hours. And yes, it was the executive order that accomplished it, over the protests of many that it would destroy the fabric of the military, that blacks wouldn't be capable of doing certain jobs ect., ect., ect. Kinda like the arguments against gays serving openly."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
