millertime24 8 #1 April 18, 2010 So here's my second ever USPSA pistol match. I think I did ok minus the jams on my end (thankyou plated bullets). I'm the guy in the green shirt and my buddy (first time shooter) is in the dark blue shirt. I hope you enjoy watching our game. PS. And to those of you who would comment on the whole 'guns are evil, thats training to kill people, your a bastard because I dont own HALF the guns you do' thing, dont even bother. Its a GAME! Nothing more. Enjoy guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v_LxTbWSh4Muff #5048
AggieDave 6 #2 April 18, 2010 Question about procedure: Do you have to keep your muzzle pointed down range in that manner or can you drop into a Sul position and turn with the gun? Seems safe but cumbersome. All the stuff I do, you drop to Sul and move as needed. Then again, I've only done a couple of comps nearly a decade ago, which were IDPA and a different rule set.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." millertime24 8 #3 April 18, 2010 Answere is NO! You must, while the loaded pistol is in your hand, not break the 180. Its a safety thing that I agree with. I'm not sure but if you wanted to turn in the manner you suggest I would say that you would likely have to have the safety on then re-holster to perform such a turn. Again, I'm not super clear on the rules regarding this manuever, but safety is key!Muff #5048
AggieDave 6 #4 April 18, 2010 The safety of it makes sense. Out on the 3D range there really isn't a "towards the berm," and turning to move with your weapon pointed sideways doesn't make sense for that. Sul position is similar to the NRA "safety circle" if you're wondering what it is. Here's a GIS of the Sul: http://www.shootingtips.com/NewFiles/article/Position%20Sul/Position-SUL5.jpg Anyways, sorry for the thread drift. Looks like you had a good time at the comp. There are some comp guys and gals out there that are INCREDIBLE shooters. Fast, accurate and just all around talented. The IDPA shoots I went to had people that had a great head on their shoulders and were very good shooters. Just all around neat people too.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
millertime24 8 #5 April 18, 2010 I hear you. I learn something everytime I go to an event. I think my stance is good, but I need to work on my draws, reloads, and sight picture. At least this match I didnt get any "no shoots" (good guys) so Im happy. Looking foward to seeing the results tomorrow..Muff #5048
