Dems; "Agree with us or STFU"

Republicans: "we're not happy. Ever. Period."

I figured you all would be chanting "drill, baby, drill" right now, instead of pining over a watered-down healthcare bill that actually saves the government money.

Spending almost a trillion to reduce the deficit by 145 million hardly results in a savings.

Sounds like the logic my wife uses when shopping.

Do you agree with what the hansome waxman is doing?

Sure. Corps scream "the sky is falling".
Waxman says... "how about you back that up because it doesn't look like it's going to fall".
Boehner says "hey Waxman, STFU and just give them what they want".

Oh, and the dollars they speak of have to be reported on SEC filings so , this is a bitch hunt by Waxman nothing more

I pronounce it "plutocraticcrybabydoubledippingcorporatewelfarerecipientwhodoesntlikegettingpushedofthegovernmenttit". I believe it refers to a term that is derived from the Latin "corpus" (body) and possibly the middle English "suclen". Less commonly known as "corpsuckler" but could refer to any parasite regardless of whether or not the relationship between the suckler and the "body" is symbiotic or destructive.

Unreal, of course these companies are making large provisions. The larger the provision they can take now, the better their bonusses will be at the end of the year.

Mark my words, at some point in the future, these provisions will get reversed, resulting in larger than expected positive results. This will result in a raise in share price, which will likeli coincide with the timing of exercising portions of stock option plans or similar schemes.

Only the dummest of people see this as proof that there is an actual large cost at this point.

They are taking a provision against a future imagined cost, they aren't actually paying for a cost. Do you really not see the difference?

It is not an imagined cost.

And I just realized something
Your post is just like Waxman calling the CEO's to congres
If you dont agree with me shut up post.

Aint going to work

These companines have to examine the cost and tax implications of this farse of a bill. As the are doing that the cost become visalbe. They have a responcibility to report it because of SEC rules and requirements. And those same rules apply to lieing about costs.

You have to see that

if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Its not an actual cost, they haven't paid for anything. They have made a provisions for a possible future payment, because the insurance companies are saying it will all be much more expensive. (It's like you putting money aside because you heard gas is going to cost $20 a gallon next month. Then when after 1 year gas never even got close to $20 a gallon, you can tell your wife what a great money manager you are and therefor should be rewarded by buying a new parachute. Same concept, larger scale)

Like I said in my first post on the subject. The provisions will largely be reversed in the future.

They have looked at the "bill" and stated this is what it will cost them

I guess they should just wait and see and not plan huh. Sound like a good business practice to you?

And what is going to be reversed? And how?
You ever seen at tax go away?
Now who is predicting???:S

Seriously? The provisions they are currently booking will be reversed. How? Well it largely depends on the accounting software they use, but it is a relatively simple journal entry.......

I'm sorry, I honestly don't understand what you are saying here.....

You said those costs will be reversed. How do you know that?

The money that is going to be required to pay for this crap is huge!! Why do you think they are talking a value added federal tax now?

They cant stop spending! They need more money. Add to that guys like kallend who say we are not taxed enough today!

So, what do you base your "it will be reversed" prediction on???

It's a prediction. I don't believe corporations will see the actual high costs they are providing for now.

Now you are talking something different. I was speaking to corporations who have announced entering provisions. You seem to be talking about federal money and taxation. They are not related.

You aren't taxed enough. Even before HC reform you have been sytematically spending more than you are earning at almost all levels of government.

It is one of the inherent flaws of short term elected governments. Politicians will do whatever gets them elected and gets them re-elected. Only short term consequences matter. Some poor shmuck at some point is going to have to stand up and explain how taxes will have to go up.

And there lies the flaw of that thinking
We cant spend less !!!! We have to tax more?? WTF

Out gov has consistantly grown at a faster rate than anything here. Out gov is already bigger and more controling than ever intended

But at least I know where you are coming from

Of course you can spend less, and in all likelihood it will have to be a combination of both. I don't think that only spending less is a viable option for the immense deficit and subsequently growing debt and debt load.

For more than 40 years you have been spending more than you receive (with only a handful of years in which this wasn't the case)

Take 1968. Mandatory spending was magnitudes lower than it is now, and even then the outlays were greater than receipts.

If we rolled the current spending to 07 levels and changed nothing else this mess could be fixed in less than 10 years

Why 2007? Why not go back a few years earlier before 43 bloated the size of government and started a trillion dollar optional war? Oh, and while we're traveling in time maybe we could take Gore up on that whole "lock box" idea. Seems that one was pretty good. :P
