rushmc 23 #1 March 30, 2010 I asked Lucky in another thread but it does deserve its own thread Regardless of party or topic, do you throw away your principals for political gain or reasons? If you answer yes then tell me, when is the cost too high? http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/29/pro-life-democrats-switched-vote-health-request-billions-earmarks/ Republican earmarks amounts are to follow Same question goes for them and their goals"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Can we do anything about these underhanded, secret, back room deals? I don't know. The practice has been in existence since the beginning. We have a corrupt government because the people are corrupt and allow it. I believe God is starting to withdraw His blessings on America. I believe that people are realizing the cost and this year's election will bring about major changes. If it doesn't, well, God help us, individually.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them. Andy9o8 3 #3 March 30, 2010 Do you mean throw away your principals or throw away your principles? Sometimes you need to throw away your principals in order to maintain your principles. That's generally a good thing. The moral compromise often comes about when you throw away your principles in order to maintain your principals.

To me principles are broadly defined attributes such as integrity, honesty, understanding, sanctity of life, etc. "Brother, can you spare another 10% of your income so we can implement our preferreed version of HC reform?" is not a priciple centered question and the answer does not necessarily lead to a definition of someone's principles." . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
