I know quite a few people that would be in big trouble if it were not for their social security checks every month. If they did not have those checks coming in, the government (we) would end up supporting them anyway. Unless the right wants to leave them to starve. Either way, while there are numerous projections that show then end of funding for SS, there are as many people bending the numbers and changing things for their desired result as we have with climate change. As of yet I haven't heard of anyone not getting their check or any of the checks bouncing. I also never said that the system was perfect nor did I say that it shouldn't have some changes made. But it certainly wasn't the end of the world as we know it. I could say the exact same thing about the HC bill.Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Meanwhile the Iraq War has cost > 1T and that's not worth mention. The basic military operations are >600B per year, not a problem. A lot of the so-called social spending is from military retirements from an overblown military.

The one that's now in the red... If the rescums were the party of fiscal responsibility and fairness the bastards would end the income cap on social security taxes. Not one of the right wingnuts can come up with any cogent reasoning as to why the lowest income tax payers pay on 100% of their income, while the highest income tax payers pay less and less, in terms of a percentage of income, the more they make. The same right wingnuts have gone NUTS at the use of "Majority Rules", with regard to the passage of the health care bill using rules well established in Congress. Absolutely totally pathetic. And proud of it, too.
