CanuckInUSA 0 #27 March 22, 2010 There is no democracy. Democracy does not exist. Democracy is a pipe dream used to make the common people think they are in control. There always has and always will be a ruling class which is in control calling the shots. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

kelpdiver 2 #29 March 22, 2010 QuoteWe better all learn how to speak and read Chinese because the future of this world is not America's. China has its own challenges, ranging from taking care of over a billion people, to growing in an environment where oil is no longer cheap, to dealing with the gross gender imbalance (estimate at 32M) caused in large part by the 1 child initiative. America won't continue to run the show, but I don't see China doing it instead.
CanuckInUSA 0 #30 March 22, 2010 Quotewhat do the rest of us do when they cross the 'line' (whatever line that may be) Well I would like to think we can be thankful that the USA has the 2nd Amendment (of course up here in the Great White North, we do not have the same rights to protect ourselves and we are at the mercy of our ruling class). However we all should be somewhat worried what the United Nations has cooking in their pot regarding removing the right to defend oneself. champu 1 #31 March 22, 2010 QuoteHowever, I am not aware of ANY nation that has chosen to reverse a universal healthcare program. Neither has Hawaii or Mass, regardless of the issues their programs may have. ...which is my point. And nobody does huge, broken, stubborn, and unsustainable quite like the US federal government. mnealtx 0 #32 March 23, 2010 QuoteQuoteQuote The USA has finally joined other civilized nations in caring for its citizens. Nope. We passed a law which says people have to buy insurance from for-profit insurance companies who can charge what they want with a maximum 3:1 price difference based on age, unless that gets to be too much and they pay a fine instead. Other civilized countries' governments provide health health insurance as a not-for-profit government plan without premiums. Well, we have to keep those multi $million bonuses coming for the health insurance CEOs. How else would they keep food on the table for their families? (The Blue Cross of Illinois CEO just paid himself a $16 Million BONUS). www.chicagobusiness.com/cgi-bin/article.pl?articleId=33126 And the CEO's of Freddie/Fannie just got multimillion-dollar bonuses. turtlespeed 226 #33 March 23, 2010 Quote Wonder if the Democrats would finally discover the fillibuster then. Won't matter - we have been shown how to get around all that needless check and balance stuff.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Rstanley0312 1 #34 March 23, 2010 I do not like that an insurance company can deny coverage to an individual based on a pre existing condition but they should be able to charge higher premiums because it is still a business and they are taking the risk. We do need change in the healthcare system but not everything we just got shoved down our throats and that is what just happened. The insurance companies have gone too far forr too many years but now in an instant the federal govt. has gone too far.Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it.
