Just so you and I are on the same page, what do you think the "public option" is or contains?

Specificaly as you can

I can't guess what those polled are assuming when they hear "public option" but the description was:

"something like the Medicare coverage that people 65 and older get -- that would compete with private health insurance plans?"

The Federal Employees Health Benefits Program is another model to pull from. The VA program and it's ability to buy drugs at bulk pricing is certainly attractive. But for me to come up with my own list of specifics would simply be a wish list. I have no idea at the moment what this Congress will come up with as a public option as the lobbyists continue to rain cash on them. But I'd like to see them put something forward. I'd also like to have some single payer arguments, at the very least, presented publicly before they get shot down by industry....I mean "Congress".

Ok

that is kind of the way I feel. It is names but loosely defined

For me I am just fundamently opposed to the gov runing this. It is not about lower costs, it is about control

The costs can be lowered or the increase slowed by other more simple means that have been brought up here before

Thanks

That's the problem now, isn't it? If your polling question has a vague question about a concept that the pollees have varying definitions of, what value do the results have?

It's no different than asking: "Do you think we should have good schools for the children?"

If people favor the public option at a rate twice that of the Senate Bill, what does that actually tell us? Not much, I suspect. People don't like the bill being considered. People do like the idea of health care reform.

Succinctly written and on point
