Gawain 0 #2 February 23, 2010 Well it does say that Argentina has ruled out military action. I'm not familiar with the state of affairs down there, but seeing as how the UK seems to continue to facilitate investment down there, I suspect Argentina will not get very far. I think this is also a result of an absentee-US foreign policy...it's already not doing North America any favors, don't want the US's oldest and closest ally to be left out. Plus, when Hugo Chavez is on your side, you're on the wrong side (in reference to his support to Argentina). So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Slight difference in that the Falkland Islands are actually full of people who identify themselves as British, and want to remain that way.Do you want to have an ideagasm? captain1976 0 #10 February 24, 2010 Those rocks may have once belonged to Argentina, but New York was once owned by the British and they can't have it back either. But if they really want it that bad, they can go to war and again they will loose. America would certainly be involved in one way or another like the last time. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime

Actually we have three aircraft carriers more than anyother nation other than the USA. http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/upload/package/63/index.html As you can see here: http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/operations-and-support/surface-fleet/fleet-today/ We have more than enough ships to do the job. That said, i doubt that there will be any actual conflict over the falklands. As long as the Bennys want to remain British they will be British. I wouldn't want to see a war with Argentina, after all any country that produces Malbec, Tango and great steak can't be all that bad eh?When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. I was making a differentiation between fleet carrier (i.e. conventional carrier) and Invincible class (about a third of the size, and in the current inventory). And, I agree, Britain is more than capable to take care of business if needed. I remember back when first hearing the news of the Falklands crisis starting to blow up, I was thinking it must be some kind of satire piece (like The Onion does today). Britain going to war with Argentina? It seemed about as likely as Switzerland going to war with Guatemala.
