do you think affirmative action was a historical necessity?

Key word dude, move on....

See my previous posts on this issue, they answer your question.

no, they don't. i assume you think that affirmative action was never necessary.

There is no "African" race.

Sure there is; it's just that the Kenyans always win.

Ethiopians have won their fair share of races.

BTW you rarely ever see Libyans win, why is that?

What do you call an Ethiopian with two dogs?

Answer: "A Rancher".

OK, OK that was poor form...just a joke...Have some Tea.

well, tea party members aren't just going to come out and say - i'm racist (even they know that's a politically negative thing to say)

Since you are so adamant about proclaiming that those who attend Tea Party rallies are racist…

A question for you…

Do you also think the Founding Fathers of these United States were racists?

Question: Do white people lower their heads in collective shame when they listen to Sarah Palin? Is there a moment where white folks shake their heads in mass and say to themselves, "Lord, I wish she weren't white?"

To be White is to be "normal," "invisible," and quintessentially "American." It is also the freedom to be an individual. When crazy white people bomb buildings, kill cops in the name of radical right wing politics, go on shooting rampages, or more generally just act like fools, it is never framed as a "White" problem. I would suggest that these actions are rarely, if ever, interrogated for what they reveal about Whiteness and/or white folk at large. In short, there is no "I hope that person isn't white" moment. Why? Because a given white person's actions are usually a reflection of their individual shortcomings, not a commentary on white people as a whole.

I think as a group they probably were. Many of them were slave owners... and many of them certainly had a disdain for the native peoples of this continent.[:/]

(was there a holocaust or don't you believe that happened either)

Why are you asking questions you won't answer yourself?

i asked it first and thought my position was quite clear - yes there was a holocaust.

So you admit to being an antisemite who would see Israel destroyed by its enemies?

let's play a game of fill in the blanks. I will start:

If Sarah Palin were black she would have disappeared into obscurity long ago.

If Sarah Palin were black, her daughter's out of wedlock, "baby daddy drama" would have been presented as an example of both pathological behavior and a dysfunctional family that is symbolic of the social problems in that community. If Sarah Palin were black, never would the poor decision making by the Palin family be marked off as challenges overcome, or deeds to be valorized.

If Sarah Palin were black, her neo-secessionist husband would have been the death knell for her political career, because as we all know you can't trust "those people."

If Sarah Palin were black, her lack of intellectual curiosity, willful and cultivated ignorance, and lack of grace both written and spoken, would not be taken as "folksy." Instead, Palin would be viewed as unqualified for any public office.

If Sarah Palin were black she would be tarred and feathered as an "affirmative action baby."

>If Sarah Palin were black she would have disappeared into obscurity
>long ago. . . . If Sarah Palin were black she would be tarred and feathered
>as an "affirmative action baby."

So she'd simultaneously be both ignored and publicly attacked?

You are both 100% correct and completely wrong.

DREAMDANCER!

Grow a pair and answer my question! Yes or No?

Do you agree with Amazon? Were the Founding Fathers just "evil rich white slave owners?"

Or have you not answered my question because "I got under your skin?"

Were mommy and daddy's ancestor’s sissy Loyalists who ran back home because they lost the war?

Hmmm... ;)

As far as I can tell, disdain, for those, outside of our mindset, seems to be a universal thing.

Yet, you helped put Obama in the White House.

The odd thing about this posting is that she wasn't black and yet was mostly viewed on these lines:

dysfunctional family, unqualified for office. Her supporters overlooked these deficiencies, just as many black voters ignored Obama's.
