That's fine but this is beyond 'stooping' Hell, if I'm not wearing my hat at the time I meet a woman for the first time, I'll make a slight bow. I think, you're confusing respect, courtesy and being polite to 'machismo' or some silly thing like that. We happen to have a president who has manners and knows how to use them.
