Didn't someone say "give someone a fish and he will eat today - teach someone how to fish and he'll feed himself for life" . . .

How familiar are you with Maslow?

How the hell does anybody learn anything if their most immediate concern is if they'll eat or not?

This is one of the problems with liberals is that they teach people how to collect a free dinner but not how to work for their dinner, this in turn teaches how to get a free ride through life.

And the problem with Cons is that they have no problem handing out free dinners and a seven figure bonus to people who do their jobs so badly that they ruin the lives of thousands of other taxpayers.

Since we're throwing out blanket generalizations I thought I'd chime in.

no I think you need to stop spinning and understand that the fat cats get their bonus's after messing up the company because they found they cannot be held resposible for their actions thanks to the corporate shield developed by the court system, and that is generally run by the liberals.

Seems that being able to eat is why we all learn stuff.

On at least 3 different levels in this statement, you do not have the first fucking idea what you're talking about.

-----------

FoxNews is a success, at least to the extent that they've helped evolve the modern lexicon. It used to be that the catch-all scapegoat for everything wrong in the world, from crotch-rot to plagues of locusts, was "Communists". Now it's "liberals".

Any random asshole can barf out "Liberal!!!" just to get in a gratuitous all-purpose bash, instead of - well, thinking. Do you really want to be part of that crowd?

So how does THAT work? Let's say I've never considered religion ever in my life. I'm in this world, but as soon as I say I accept Jesus Christ in my heart I'm no longer of this world? That doesn't make any sense at all.

Yeah. When you are on the outside looking in it appears very mystic, unreal and senseless. It is like skydiving. If you truly want to know, you have to take the risk and jump.
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

Does that include them buying the fishing license that they can't afford too and waiting for the right season.. or are you suggesting they break the laws in all of the states:S:S

That is why you include the kids. The parents may or may not be deadbeats but having the kid earn his lunch by adding extra studies or help clean the lunch room and other projects that benifit the kid will help develope the kid into a productive adult.

" Hey Jimmie, ya wanna go play tag after we eat lunch?" "Gee I would love to but since my mom is a dead beat, and since the state had to pay 80 cents for my lunch, I have to clean the bathrooms and then attend extra studies. Hopefully things will get easier when I get to the first grade."

>I had to work for my food why shouldn't the kids and adults getting
>a part of my tax dollars?

Adults - agreed. Let them work for their food.

Kids - disagreed. Do whatever it takes to educate them well. If that means heating the school, then pay for heat. If that means buying them desks, then buy them desks. If that means providing lunch, then do that.

>This is one of the problems with liberals is that they teach people how to

As accurate as claiming the conservative value here is "I got mine, fuck the country's future."

I have been working and paying for things since I was old enough to push a lawn mower or shovel snow or deliver papers. there should never be a free ride for anyone at any time. even doing chores at your house should start after you can walk and talk. Giving things away only promotes an entitlement attitude and that is what has been taught to our children. Sorry Bill, this time you are wrong.

Depends on the state

Depends on the species

Depends on the size

Depends a LOT on the seasons

Depends a lot on the limits..

That makes for a whole lot for a 5 year old to learn.:S:S

Perhaps feeding them for a yew years might be in order..

wrong again Bill, I did the chores at my house and that contributed to the house that paid the taxes that paid for my school. maybe I didn't hand the school cash but I did contribute to pay for my education. I pay taxes now that contributes to many kid's education and they will do the same, but that does not mean they shouldn't work in some way to contribute to that education.

If you think that household chores paid for your education, then you're off by several orders of magnitude.

That's great! It made you feel good about yourself while other people paid for your education, which gave you the background to be a more productive citizen.

I don't think he's trying to say that every dime spent has to be paid back in full, but more to teach these kids that in order to get something beyond what the others are getting (free lunch, etc.) you have to give something else.

A child is not going to understand nor needs to understand the costs associated vs. the limited tasks back they provide, but they will hopefully learn the concept of providing for ones self. Maybe they can teach that to their parents. :S

If a parent doesn't like this, they can start paying for the kids lunch.

you are missing the point, it is not that you paid 100% but that you contributed to it. maybe the actual cost you contribute when young is very small, but you did contribute, and as you get older your contribution gets larger until you are taking care of yourself and then are helping someone else to do the same. I see to many kids nowdays that haven't learned anything about taking care of their responsibilities until they are out of college. their contribution to their own welfare was zero until that point now they are overwelmed buy having to do it all at once. they have no work ethic, ability, or desire to work for their own prosperity.
We have less and less people to pay for more and more people because of attitudes like yours. Not saying your attitude is not nobel, but it does breed lazyness and entitlement attitudes from the children and harms them and us in the future.

Exactly. Even if a portion of the current generations are lost causes to this concept it doesn't mean the current generations children have to be.

They're gonna need all the work ethic and self sufficiency they can get to pay for all the debt we've accumulated... :S
