Queen Pelosi wasn't happy with the small USAF C-20B jet, Gulfstream III, that comes with the Speaker's job ... OH, NO.

Queen Pelosi was aggravated that this little jet had to stop to refuel, so she ordered a Big Fat, 200-seat, USAF C-32, Boeing 757 jet that could get her arrogant zionist fat ass back to California without stopping. I understand that a former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, flew commercial most of the time.

Since she only works 3 days a week, this gas guzzling jet gets fueled and she flies home to California every Friday and returns every Monday, at a cost to the taxpayers (YOU and ME are those taxpayers!) of about $60,000, one way!

As Joe put it ..."unfortunately, we have to pay to bring her back on Monday night and that costs us another $60,000"

Taxpayers, that is $480,000 per month and that is an annual cost to us of $5,760,000.

In a time of global economic troubles, Queen Pelosi (one of the most powerful people) refuses to lead by example. You need to put aside your partisan politics for once and recognize this.

I do not always agree with what Bill Von has to say on every subject, but I respect the man because he is capable of of acting in a bipartisan manner.

If you want to bitch about over-spending, bitch about the biggest socialist over-spending problem in the budget. Canada has the same land mass but more shoreline and does fine on 1/30th of that with $18.2B in 2008 and an expected $19B tab in 2009. Fixes here would net $500,000,000,000 savings not $6,000,000.

Hmmm ... you should NOT bring Canada into this Drew. As long as Canada is allies with the USA, Canada does not need to spend money on it's defense like other countries need to spend. The US has proven time again that they are 2nd to none when it comes to invading counties. They just really suck at occupying them. But if the USA ever wanted to feel good about it's ability to occupy a country they could do it in Canada. Liberal Canada has disarmed itself and the people who do have weapons tend to like America. But if the USA did not have it's military, Russia, China ... heck Somalia could invade and occupy Canada.

what I think is really fun, is there could be a thread on the exact same issue posted next week, except instead of Pelosi, it'll be some Republican senator - and most of the posts will be exactly the same, only the players reversed. The real upshot (from where I look, which is all that matters to me)

- Nancy Pelosi is something of a bitch. But hardworking & disciplined as well. Kind of like Condoleeza Rice.
- George W. Bush decreed that SOH should be afforded protected government transportation after 9/11.
- Nancy Pelosi is pretty rabidly partisan, but she doesn't lie about her positions or try to pretty them up. If she were a man that folks agreed with, she'd be a "straight shooter who's not afraid to say it like it is."
- The reason she "needed" a bigger jet is that the Seargeant at Arms (first chosen by the Republican congress in 2005 and kept since then) said that she should be able to fly non-stop as part of security. San Francisco is a little farther away than Illinois (where previous SOH Hastert came from).

But nobody really cares. Because it's much easier just to turn her into a figurehead for female evil to the right, now that Hillary isn't quite as easily visible. Sarah Palin serves that purpose to the left; Phyllis Schlafly is so 1970's.
