They have been, but since that doesn't fit most people's preconceptions, it doesn't get reported much. If it bleeds, it leads - and people condemning criminals isn't all that bloody.

So exactly where have you seen muslims roundly and vocally condemning terrorist actions? Soap boxes in town squares around the world?

And if they aren't getting news coverage, it has nothing to do with "most people's preconceptions". News directors decide what makes the news, so you must mean "most news directors preconceptions.

East London mosque condemns Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab

By Richard Edwards, Crime Correspondent
Published: 7:30AM GMT 29 Dec 2009

The East London Mosque secretary, Ayub Khan, said that it was appalled by Abdulmutallab's alleged attempts to blow up a plane on its way to Detroit.

Associates of the 23-year-old Nigerian said that he visited the East London Mosque, in Whitechapel.

MI5 believe that the suspect could have developed links with other extremists during three years he spent in Britain studying at University College London. They will investigate where he worshipped and whether he was radicialised in the UK or elsewhere.

NSCIA, other Moslem groups condemn attempted terror attack

No Al-Qaeda group in Nigeria, say clerics

VARIOUS Islamic organisations in Nigeria, including the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Assembly of Moslems in Nigeria (AMIN) yesterday joined in condemning the alleged deeds of the Nigerian terror suspect, Farouk Umar Abdulmutallab, who, on Christmas day, attempted to blow up a United States airliner.

The Islamic groups rejected the association of the youth with the religion of Islam, insisting that Islam is a religion of peace. They argued that the motive and deeds of the young Mutallab should be viewed in isolation.

That may be your opinion, but dogma of some Christian denominations seems to differ.

I have a certificate from a few weeks after I was born stating very clearly that I was a baptized member of a Christian church. I do not believe I was consulted about this.

Don't be concerned. There is no Scriptural justification or authority for or with infant baptism. You are off the hook.
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

I don't think he's a dick at all. Ted Haggard, for example, could have some excellent advice for Tiger in terms of who to turn to in his time of need. Buddhism doesn't offer those kinds of bonuses.

Maybe he could go have a couple prayer meetings with the REVvvvrend Jesse Jackson.

>You mean like the islamic extremists who believe poeple who won't
>convert to Islam must be killed?

Yep. And the Christian extremists who feel it is their religious obligation to kill doctors, and the Tamil (atheist) extremists who feel that killing is a good way to solve their problems. All pretty much dicks.

The Tamil are Hindus...

The Tigers — which include 5,000 to 10,000 guerillas — are fighting to secede from the the island country of Sri Lanka. Tamils originally immigrated to Sri Lanka from southern India and make up 10 to 15% of the population, compared to the majority Sinhalese, who constitute about 75%. In 1972, the Sinhalese-controlled Sri Lankan government declared Sinhala and Buddhism the official language and religion. The Tamils, who practice Hinduism and have their own language, took this action as an affront, and Vellupillai Prabhakaran founded the Tigers soon after. The group is formally known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). (See pictures of Sri Lanka on the brink of civil war in 2006)

Would this love and kindness also include your wife...or just the mistresses?

This means that Tiger is an overachiever or just liked giving the bonus plan. :P

Hmm. From Conservopedia (the conservative "trustworthy encyclopedia"):

======================
Atheism and terrorism
From Conservapedia

There has been a connection between Atheism and terrorism over history.

Many argue that Darwinism and the idea of the "survival of the fittest", has inspired racism, Nazism, communism and terrorism.

Robert Pape of the University of Chicago points out that the Tamil Tigers, a Sri Lankan terrorist group who are responsible for more suicide bombings over the last two decades than even Al Quaeda, are heavily influenced by a Marxist/Leninist ideology which is atheistic. Many atheist despots of the 20th century, namely Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong can be accused of terrorist acts in their attempt to create a religion-free utopia. Those three atheists alone murdered more than 100 million people.
======================

Searching through less-amusing sources, I can't find anything that indicates that the LTTE (the terrorist organization referred to as the Tamil Tigers) is anything other than a completely secular government/organization. Most Tamils are indeed Hindu, but as you know that does not make any organization they belong to Hindu.

But in any case, if the Tamil extremists who kill people are Hindus, then they are dicks as well.

Well that was certainly eye-opening. I'll be sure to treat the terrorists nice now. Maybe they'll kill me last.:o

Reading problem there, Chuck?

You treat terrorists as terrorists. You treat the other 99.99% of Muslims, Christians, Hindus, atheists, etc., nice.

Nope, no reading problem at all. And you're right, we should treat terrorist as terrorists and treat everyone else nicely. The trick is figuring out which is which.

Good luck with that.
