I would agree that Liberal Leftest are nothing more than a Cancer in any society. > 'Liberals", it is in fact accurate, since they are protesting for a more Liberal (less authoritarian) form of government. They are not looking for government handouts, they just want more freedom. Well, I think I can wrap my hands around this...(less authoritarian form of government), and more freedom is exactly what I want. But American Liberals, Progressives, Leftest seem to me, want something entirely different. Well, wrap your hands around this. My household income and net worth is in the top 2%, I probably pay more tax than 98% of the whiny tea-baggers, I'm not asking for a hand out, and I'm sure you'd call me a liberal. Well, I've meet you twice at Skydive Spaceland. Once when you flew out in your Mooney, you seemed fairly nice to me.

SpeedRacer 1 #28 January 5, 2010 Look, dammit, my point is that there are different FORMS of Liberalism, and within each of these forms, there are different DEGREES of liberalism. Let's not get off on a pissing match. My points are that 1) the definition of Liberalism has been grossly distorted, and 2) Pretty much all of us here, no matter how closely we adhere to Conservatism, would agree that a total ABSENCE of ANY form of Liberalism is a bad thing. ie, a Taliban-style government. Or would a restrictive Taliban-style government be a good thing if it was in a Christian context instead of a Muslim context? And rightly so. Although, there are a lot of the distorted types that truly have rationalized themselves into thinking they are the first kind. (difficult example - privatization of social security is a very liberal concept, but most self proclaimed 'liberals' can't possibly admit it because they aren't true liberals rather distorted def libs that are really partisan hacks) much like true conservatives get upset when they are bunched into the radical religious right people like negative stereotypes, it makes them feel superior to others without having to spend any effort it's also a LOT more fun in forums ... Laszloimage 0 #30 January 6, 2010 Without liberalism we humans would never have developed tools, writing, or anything! We would never have explored anything! We would never have discussed anything here on the internet! Evolution and progress requires liberal thinking and ideas. It doesn't matter if it's politics, science, or anything else. But changes probably should be made in small (maybe a bit conservative) steps. Radicalism doesn't lead anywhere, we know it from history already. ...damm liberals and their ideas! (just kidding)
nerdgirl 0 #31 January 7, 2010 Quotethink of Liberals in extremely anti-Liberal countries? Do you consider Russia to be a western country? In Russia, liberals are called demshiza. It’s a contemptuous corruption of the Russian words for “democracy” and “schizophrenia,” which I learned recently. Hardline nationalist supporters of President Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and the party that supports him, United Russia, use the insult to refer to the supporters of “The Other Russia” coalition and opponents like Garry Kasporov, who support more democratic governance and civil rights. /Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters.
