Mentioning the existence of it to you, for the entertainment of watching you go spastic?

the only spazzo's in this thread are the gun nutter drasticly trying to justify thier voilent tendencies.

fortunately for you there are plenty of nutcases in here that will support you and prop up your false sense correctness.

the world would be alot better off without violent people.

Anyway, I AM AN AMERICAN LIBERAL, and I SUPPORT THE RIGHT OF rushmc and mnealtx and other law abiding citizens to bear arms. In the USA, states and cities have had, for a long time, the right to establish their own laws about gun rights.

calm down and breath!

:D

i never said yiu shouldn't.

just don't treat guns like the latest Ipod or 'cool toy'.

being fanatical about them is not healthy.

So you are saying you think I do or I am?

Where did you get that notion?

Then, are you saying all XX million gun owner in the US have violent tendencies?

A product produced for small minds, with small ideals.

What a stupid product for stupid people!

happy new decade assholes!

You’re right that sometimes things that seem to be humorous or witty for one person, or two, or three … end up not be funny for another … not the intent of the OP, but I’ll take a good lesson, wherever/whenever I can get one. :)” disclaimer that started the OP would signal. Otoh, humor can be a method to delve into topics that otherwise would be problematic.

The AK-47 is, imo, perhaps the greatest unrecognized example of revolutionary technology from the twentieth century.

It is simple. It’s revolutionary in its simplicity – 16 moving parts, iirc – and in its democratic nature, particularly favored by anti-colonialists in Africa and Latin America because of its ease of use (simple, i.e., no specialized trained required), ubiquity (like Coca-Cola, they’re everywhere), manufacturing process (that was simple compared to other production methods), and reliable performance (altho’ not necessarily accurate) in all sorts of messes (doesn’t jam like more precise M-16 in adverse conditions). Historically, the invention of the AK-47 was spurred as a response to better made German weapons that were used against Soviet soldiers in WWII, sometimes with brutal consequences for the Soviet soldiers who were fighting the German regime. The AK-47’s significance was not recognized by western militaries and military intelligence agencies, i.e., it was an intelligence failure. It’s a weapon used from northwestern Asia to southern South America. It’s a cultural icon around the world, from the height of the Soviet military to late 20th century American hip-hop. It’s the only weapon to appear on a modern nation-state’s flag. And yes, as a small arms weapon it has been used for violence, some tremendously brutal violence, e.g., by Charles Taylor’s forces in Liberia. Of the estimated 100M or so AK-47s in circulation today, the majority have been trafficked illicitly. Revolutionary technology doesn’t have to be high-tech or complex, sometimes the most revolutionary developments are simple. So yes, the AK-47’s role in the 20th and 21st century can be intellectualized.

As to a lesson for the upcoming decade, I think that one can find ones in the history of the AK-47 as well. There is, imo, a tendency to not recognize the power of disruptive but simple technology. Insurgents in Iraq co-opted civilian infrastructure and simple explosives chemistry to make IEDs that have been horribly effective in killing US service members and others as well as a disruptive tactic. Simple but highly effective.

Whether or not a bottle containing alcohol shaped like an AK-47 or shaped like anything else is more of an aesthetics issue than stupidity issue, imo. From a marketing perspective, it might be brilliant.

Nice justification:P, I still think it is a tacky, stupid, unecessary piece of crap that only promotes violence within violent people.

Some will call me an idiot for thinking so, that is their choice, as thinking this way is mine.

I was also called an idiot when i argued that I didn't think Iraq had WMD's, I was also called an idiot when I said going into iraq was a waste of time, life, and money, I also was called an idiot when I said it would be the demise of your economy... and the only reason you're going in there was for the OIL, "WHAT AN ASSHOLE" everybody in here hailed...

Now Obama says Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11.

what do you suppose it was for then?

These glass guns filled with vodka are useless, tacky and idiotic.

Like I said, a product for small minds!

Glorifying death and destruction is not funny, cool or something one should be proud of.

That is not to say Ak's are not a engineering masterpiece, and if you live in a place of war it might be wise to have one in you closet. The best and wisest thing would be making sure NOBODY KNOWS IT IS THERE!

But being covert is not a thing Amercians seem to be able to get thier heads round I suppose!

All or nothing eh.;)

the UN has named this the international decade of culture and peace!

How about we 'all' start to realise there is more than one facet to our 'global' society, and start respecting the fact that we are not all the same, and we all have our own individual right to think and say as we please.

If anyone is offended by what I say, and don't want to be offended any further, i suggest you don't reply to my comments, My intent is not to offend but to speak my mind!

this is the 'Speakers Corner' remeber, not the gun clubs master'de'bators forum!
