Time for a new dictionary. Credit != tax, *especially* when it has to be repaid.

Apparently he has a hard time with "-" signs.
So you are agreeing with the fact that an Earned Income Credit is actually a penalty for not having more kids and a low paying job.

Quote[M]y statement that insurance isn't required if you don't use the car on public roads is false?
Yes, it is false w/r/t Florida law. A registered vehicle must be insured, even if it remains on private property.

Is registration (and therefore insurance) required if the vehicle never leaves private property?

Staying relevant to this discussion, I pay a lot more tax than I would if I owned a home and had a mortgage. So it appears I am indeed penalized by the government, in the form of extra tax, for not buying a home.

No. But, not all registered vehicles are driven on public roads, yet they still require insurance according to state law, making your assertion false w/r/t Florida law.

The IRS doesn't buy that excuse. I DO have to pay pay additional tax because I don't own a home.

You can make up all KINDS of "taxes" that you supposedly pay if you use enough lame examples - none of which are codified, amazingly enough.

Are you now claiming that IRS Schedule A, Form 5405, and form 1040 aren't codified?

You're right - this is both unfair and the way it works now. What's your proposal to change this?
to bad the health care bill doesn't address this either.

Oddly enough, I can't find anywhere that 5405 mentions a TAX on people who don't own a home.

That is like saying that you have to pay extra at Sears on a tool pouch because you didn't buy it when it was on sale.
The price is what the price is and you may or may not get a discount. it's not a fine if you don't buy it on sale - it is a CREDIT or bonus if you do.

Sears has a certain profit they have to achieve to be a good business and continue to hire their people and pay their dividends, etc.
If they sell items at a discount to some people, what do you think they have to do to all the rest of their merchandise to cover that discount (if they intend to keep to their budget)?

You do realize that neither passage contradicts what I posted, right?
Actually they only require it to be titled, the requirement is listed under an "Off Highway" legislation.
