JohnRich 4 #2 December 17, 2009 I just realized that chainsaws are completely unregulated. You can go in and buy one in any hardware store, no questions asked. There is no training required before using one of these dangerous devices. And as you can see from this news story, this is the inevitable sad result. By gosh, the government should step in and license chainsaw users, to stop this massacre.

I have to agree. Personally, I have carried a firearm more than a thousand times and only carried a chainsaw a couple of hundred (guesstimates). I have no bullet wounds but I have had a scar on my knee for the past 20 years from a chainsaw-I now refer to that as my Amazon hickyYou are only as strong as the prey you devour

tkhayes 348 #7 December 17, 2009 So this Newfie goes into the hardware and buys a new chainsaw for firewood. He heard the chainsaw could cut TWO full cords of wood every day, and that's what the salesman said as well. So the next day, Newfie comes back to the store with the chainsaw. "There must be something wrong with this - I worked all day yesterday and only got a half a cord of wood" Salesman says "Well, they do take a bit of getting used to, give it a couple days to figure out how to use it, I am sure your cutting technique will get better with practice." So the Newfie leaves Two days later, the Newfie returns again with the saw. "Man, I have been busting my ass for two days. The very best I could get was barely a cord of wood." The salesman is perplexed. "Maybe there is something wrong with it. Let's see if it is running OK" So the salesman puts the chainsaw down, primes it, pulls the cord and "VROOM VROOM!" it fires up. The Newfie jumps about 3 feet in the air and yells "JESUS CHRIST - What's that noise!!"

Hollywood isn't helping since all they do is glamorize chainsaw use. Our children are growing up thinking that chainsaws are only good for ripping apart teenagers at summer camps.
