And I had to look that acronym up. /Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. jcd11235 0 #27 December 17, 2009 Quote Quote We've recently had troops in Pakistan. I suspect that we still do. I doubt that they're there without the knowledge of the government of Pakistan. Not according to Admiral Mullen, who said just last week there is "absolutely no provision or discussion" of putting any U.S. troops in Pakistan. There is support personnel there, which was at the request of the Pakistani government, to train their own troops. Perhaps our troops' presence in Pakistan is not intended to be public knowledge, then.Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! jcd11235 0 #28 December 17, 2009 Quote At the upper ranks, general officer level, I don’t see anything to indicate Taliban and certainly not AQ infiltration. What indications would you expect to see if they had been infiltrated at such high levels? I think that the need to be discreet in order to retain the position infiltrated would be extremely high. Care would be taken to keep indications or evidence of infiltration at such levels minimal or non-existent. Thus, the higher the level of infiltration, the less likely it would be to find indications of the infiltration.Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! redlegphi 0 #29 December 17, 2009 I don't think it's really difficult to understand, though I do think a lot of Americans don't understand it for the same reason that I don't know the first thing about how to grow corn: I'm not a farmer, they're not Soldiers. I think that's probably a big part of what's driving the 64%. I do think it can be difficult to implement, particularly because it involves employing a lot of non-kinetic and/or effects-based assets that a lot of the leadership in our Army either hasn't been taught to think about or isn't used to thinking about. Though that has changed a lot over the past 5 years or so, which is why we're getting better at COIN (though if you threw us into an old-school NTC rotation against the russian hordes, I'd be scared to see what the outcome would be right now).
