DFWAJG 4 #3 November 9, 2009 Wet vacs are home/shop vacuum cleaners that you can buy from Home Depot. "Wet backs" are a derogatory term for Mexicans. From what you posted, it sounds like they were using a play on words as in California, you will find many people hanging around Home Depot looking for odd jobs, often Mexican (who btw, IMO, are some of the hardest working group of people I have ever encountered). So, yes, I think they were out of line.

Andy9o8 2 #5 November 9, 2009 So I walk into the store and ask the saleslady, "Do you sell Dustbusters?" And she slaps me full in the face. WTF?
Andy9o8 2 #6 November 9, 2009 Oh, I forgot the end of the story. Apparently, if you say the word "dustbusters" when your mouth is filled with Cheetos, it sounds like "buttfuckers." Who'd-a thunk it?
wmw999 2,589 #7 November 9, 2009 It's the same in Austin -- day laborers hang out at the Home Depot among other places. And in America we generally hire people and rent stuff. So yeah, I'd say they were reaching for the "misinterpretation." Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
