RonD1120 62 #2 November 8, 2009 I have become very disappointed in governmental leadership. It seems to me the motivation for political office is power and control, money and sex, not necessarily in that order. What troubles me to a much greater degree, is that about half the people in the U.S. do not seem to care. We see some spirited discussions in this forum between Conservatives and Liberals. However, my opinion of the majority of posters, at this juncture, is that as long as they can skydive, indulge their vices and avoid the responsibilities of being the head of household they don't care one whit about their government.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

I could not care less about my mechanic, I just want my car to run. In general people only pay attention to government when it is not working properly. The solution is for the gov to provide for bread and circuses.

Why does the government owe us what we should provide for ourselves. If you want food, work for it. If you want a good time, work for it. Develop personal responsibility. billvon 3,120 #5 November 8, 2009 It makes sense to me that the people we want as representatives would be smart, capable people who can think on their feet, express themselves well and get things done. Those are also the same qualities that turn people into millionaires. Indeed, a campaign where one candidate stumped with things like "I'm not very successful, motivated or driven - just like you!" isn't likely to garner many votes. Do you really want Congress to have an average IQ of 100? I don't - they're doing bad enough as it is.
