quade 4 #1 November 8, 2009 Ok, I don't care what side of the aisle you identify with, I found this Drudge headline hilarious. The bill passed 220-215. It's not exactly like there was anybody out of town! Yes, that really was super tricky and "she" sure must have caught "them" off guard; only 435 members of the House showed up.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

What's with that? I merely pointed out, that for the Speaker of the House to get that many collectively together, there must have been some goody bags handed out; maybe lifetime passes to Disney World. Most of them are more interested in their own personal greed than HC, and they can be bought cheap (both parties). They love Mickey Mouse.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
quade 4 #14 November 9, 2009 So, lemme see, the ones voting for HC are greedy and needed gift bags from Pelosi to show up, but the folks trying to vote it down are altruistic saints that aren't being bought off by the HC insurance big pharma industries? That's not exactly making a lot of sense and you're giving Pelosi WAY too much credit for being able to control any member of the House. The fact is they all knew the vote was coming and stayed for their own reasons without any coaxing whatsoever on the part of The Speaker.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

First, I don't actually remember seeing any of those exact terms. Seriously. Second, it's not about having a problem with it, it's about understanding it. I don't agree with comparing Bush with Hitler, or calling him 'Shrub', but I understand what the insult is. With the intentional misspelling of Obama's (and Pelosi?) name I honestly don't get it. champu 1 #23 November 11, 2009 I can't remember if it was one of the state legislatures or if it was federal, but I remember someone posting a link a while back to an expose on representatives pushing the voting buttons for people that weren't there. They had video of it and it wasn't even discreet. People leaning over desks, scrambling to get to unattended buttons before opposing people did... total circus. I guess that would be one way to improve attendence. For this particular bill, however, I wouldn't think it too much to ask to show up at slightly odd hours.
