You could offer alternative theories and delve into it, but no, I have no affidavit from God, so it must be BS. :S

Ah, so now I'm not only a Republican but also a Christian? Amazing.

Or perhaps just more of your usual BS, given that I'm an atheist who voted for Clinton, Kerry, and Obama. Even defective watches are right more often.

if I went to a MRO (maint repair org)

They'd ask why an expert like yourself didn't know that a MRO commonly refers to Maintenance Repair and Overhaul. There are MRO organizations but at the wrench turner level Maintenance, Repair, Organization is more a system or software than a shop.

I try to keep my replies short so you can follow along.

And you do so so you can keep a runnin along. Does anyone think you're not runnin? You just refuse to answer, yet you demand others' answer yours. Here's all this you ran from:

____________________________________________

I didn't write, "swell then draw". I wrote:

I asked what swell and draw refers to in riveting practice, you replied by saying blind riveting. A blind rivet draws and then swells, not swell and draw.

You misquoted me, which is why you rarely post a quote from the person you're replying to; patently dishonest.

That was how I've always worded it, I posed it as swell and then draw to illustrate how a person could hypothetivcally characterize the action of a blind fastener, it just isn't ever used in the trade, but that even in your obscure answer that swell and draw could be somehow the process of a blind rivet with your guess, tat's even wrong because IF thatg language was used it would hypothetically be draw and swell.

I asked what swell and draw refers to in riveting practice, you replied by saying blind riveting. A blind rivet draws and then swells, not swell and draw. Look, dude, yiou fucked up, you know not what you talk about, you guessed and now you're trying ot run away. What do you think you ended the, as you called it, the 20 questions? Your lack of acft knowledge would have been further expanded.

And that's how you make your living in these arguments; semantics. I have been in aviation since age 17, really flying with my dad sicne age 5. I have 30 years acft exp not counting the very small breaks, 25 years if you take my resuem dates and add them up. 20 years have been in acft structures and sheetmetal, I will post a myriad of pics on photobucket of some projects I have done recently and am still doing 1. If you went to a shop referring to shooting a cherrymax as, "shoot and draw" or "draw and shoot" they would start to question your knowledge, intensely. If you want to feed me a shit sandwich here and want me to believe that shooting a cherry is a product of shoot and draw then I refuse to take a bite. You told me I know nothing about trailer construction; I agree. I told you you know nothing about acft structure; you dishonestly disagree. Do you think anyone is fooled?

So to write some general BS like that is ridiculous. Plastics can be welded thru a different process, and if you're good enough you can probably get far different metal alloys to weld. The point I made was that 6061 is known as the weldable aluminum, not that any others cannot, the question is one of, "why weld other metals when the weld doesn't have the same integrity?" Spruce is the standard for acft wood, not the only wood used, just the standard. 6061 is the weldable aluminum, not the only aluminum taht can be welded, just the most weldable. 20-70 is the standard for carb icing in recip acft, not the only place, just the most predominant range with humidity. 20 degree turns is a standard for commercial flying, it depends upon other factors that will make it vary, it might be 17 or 22 or???, but it is a good standard by which to refer to standard turns w/o going into a diatribe. See, and you agree, but when you get your ass handed to you in an argument, you then turn to fringe futility to try to misdirect the fact you lost. Again, do you think all can't see it? The best example is here:

- If I said pie was 3.1416 you would reply by saying, 'no, pie is not a definite number, so you are flat wrong.

- If I said the earth was a sphere, you would say, 'no, it's an oblate spheroid.

- If I said the numnerical value something was 9, you would say, 'no, it is 9.0, and then refer to significant digits.

- If I said a person was 30, you would sday, 'no, he is 30 1/2.'

We all see the method of futility in your madness and I don't think anyone buys it. You can take any issue and become futile and then claim victory.

Quote

Yes, I know. That's what I pointed out in my reply. Read it again and this time pay attention.

Nope, the original question was for you to tellme what swell and draw means in regard to riveting, you guessed it was blind riveting, I pointed out it was not so you broke into this barrage of BS about the rivet swelling as it was being drawn up. I said that even if that wa sthe case, it would be draw and then swell, in that order, but that is not how it is termed in acft, GA or MRO, perhaps in your speciality, trailer building it is used.

Quote

You said 6061 was the only Al alloy you have seen in aircraft that has been welded. That shows a very limited exposure. It also is not the most weldable alloy used in aircraft. Weldability takes into account a number of variables, some of which I am sure you are familiar with but some I am just as sure you are not.

Meanwhile as I hand your ass to you you claim a limited time around avaition, yet you have some knowledge of welding in avaition? Yet you haven't told us your occupation, and I still want fries with that.

Show us your vast amount of googling you've done in regard to welded acft parts, you keep claiming I'm wrong or limited, but fail to show your oh so vast knowledge. Truthfully, very little is welded in acft. Probably accessories/cases, but very fw strictural parts and probably no primary structure. The idea is that it's invasive so unless you have to, don't. I can't think of 1 keel beam, frame, stringer, skin or any other primary structure that is welded.

Quote

Since you brought it up, yes, different alloys can be welded together. There are even processes by which dissimilar metals, such as Fe and Al, can be welded together successfully.

I brought it up saying it could be done, but THE STANDARD IS STILL 6061. You have yet to refute that, just play your circus games. My dad was a welder all his life so I knew it before I went into aviation, but you learn that early in avaition as well, for the few welded aluminum parts there are, that they always use 6061 unless there is a reason they can't - I have not heard of one - you're claiming brilliance, bring it via your new research.

Also, corps who base here for the tax benefit but send job ovewrseas need to be taxed HARD.

Right.

Those used to be called "tariffs." Then we had a problem - the government tried to create jobs, take care of people, go to war, and provide health care and cash to old people.

Because the government didn't have money, it had to borrow it. From places like China.

So now, a tariff will mean they hold on on lending money. We can't do that! They get "most favored nation" status.

I'd sure like to see you get a bit real here. If you eat all your cak you can't have it anymore.

Isn't it amazing when comunist China provides a better business environment for private businesses?

So, in other words, you're admitting you don't have proof.

Good - maybe now you'll quit making the claim every time we turn around.

Right, all you have to do is create a ridiculous standard of proof forr which there is none available and say, 'see, yiou can't prove it.' A guy was twice convicted in the courts for 1st deg murder using this standard you would embrace in the courts and demand his immediate execution, yet when it comes to defending your tax cuits my friends ideology you want beyond an absolute standard. :S Futility.

It's obvious that what Hoover did:

- Nothing

- Cutting taxes

- Refusing to deficit spend

is what led to the xxxx# of deaths and suffering. He virtually tripled taxes and the GDP turned, the unemp rate fell and the market recovered. I was drinking too many diet sodas and my Kidney/adrenal gland was hurting, I quit and the pain went away. Do I have a notorized affidavit from my kidney? No, but I'm willing to put togther that some content of the soda is what led to it. I can go on obviosu and repretitive data, I don't need an affidavit from God.

You would roll your eyes at a person on death row claiming their innocense, yet you want an obvious situation to be verified to unrealistic proportions if it includes teh handi work of your defunct party.:S

No different than your quibbling on rivets.

What's no diff than me quibbling over rivets? BTW, you probably didn't follow the other thread, but Belgian asked me 3 basic aviation questions, I answerd them corectly and claimed I answered 2 wrong. He begrudgingly recanted 1 after Bill essentially told him he was wrong, the other he split hairs and used a fringe to try to make a case. The rivets was about me then asking him what swell and draw is in regar dto riveting. He didn;t know, he guessed and it turns out he was a trailer assembler, nit an acft mech. I have 25+ years acft exp, I have an FAA mech license, FAA insp authorization and a Pilot's license and he thinks he knows more than me :S

Quote

Actually, I'm still figuring out your claimed expertise in economy, politics, law, and aviation.

Show me where I claim to be an expert other than aviation structures.

And not supporting any of it. See, the neo-cons have decided to misdirect the issue of their failed fiscal policy and make this a referendum on me ad hominem style. I'm ok with that, but at least bring something instead of the usual nothingness. Oh well, it that or spelling corections, just leave the neo-con cut tax and grossly overspend thing out.

Quote

If you're as often wrong in the other areas as you are in mine....

Show me where I was often wrong.

Quote

Oh, and back to the rivets-I was curious since my expertise in in P, not A ...

What we say in sheetmetal is that if you want job security, give an A&P a drill motor and rivet gun.

For clarity to all:

- A&P mechs typically change landing gear, service, flt controls, engine work, systems, etc

- Sheetmetal/structural mechs - Anything airframe.

- Avionics remove/install radios, wires, etc.

So I am an A&P/IA, PP, FCCGROL, but I specialize in airframe. So just because I'm an A&P doesn't mean I specialize in systems, engines, etc.

Quote

so I spent the day putting a windscreen in a Bonanza and swell and draw makes perfect sense. I can see the process referred to in either order.

That's because you are an A&P and you don't have a clue as to what full-time SM people do. Watch how it works:

- drill the hole in the material to be fastened.

- Debur

- Join them and draw all gaps out, install rivet then shoot

- If there are some areas where you cannot draw gaps out, insert solid rivet, SWELL THAT RIVET SLIGHTLY, then place the bar next to the rivet and tap the rivet head very lightly to DRAW THE MATERIAL DOWN using the swollen shank of the rivet to create tension to hold the laminates together while you shoot them together. So do you see how you must sweel the rivet before you draw it? To do the opposite would be like saying you could pull the cutaway or the reserve in any order; it just doesn't matter.

I asked Belgian this to see his knowledge of acft SM as this is a technique known around the industry with SM veterans, not google-able.

Normally we install those windscreen lower retaining strips screws and fiber nuts, as it is a bitch to buck inside under the inst panel. They come factiry with rivets. Rivets are better for a few reasons; was the Beech torndown? Esp the rivets on the corners, they are a bitch.

Belgian was saying swell and draw related to a blind fastener, the truth is the fastener draws up the shank, the shank then swells. With blinds you really have to have the gaps pulle dout, the second the shaft swells on each laminate it's over; it's really a 1-shot deal. I know you feel the desire to run to the aid of a fellow conservative, fine, but ask any veteran SM guy what swell and draw means and he will verify this.

Sure there are many aspects, but there are primary aspects, causes, cures, etc. You guys will continue to defend TAX CUTS, MY FRIENDS until your balls fall off. Tell me then, I assert it was tax cuts and refusal to deficit spend and render aid in a big way, what should Hoover have done? Just answer the fucking question; what should Hoover have don in Oct 1929?

:D Hillarious. Firstly, we woudl have to define conservatism and conservative issues. Secondly and most importantly, you're a Libertarian, pie-in-the-sky the church can heal everyone, fuck teh poor, fuck taxes, pro-pot and pro-abortion. Look, at the end of teh day, I'm not that huge on moral issues, I'm the biggest on fiscal issues, so TO ME YOU ARE CONSERVATIVE AS YOUR FISCCAL BELIEFS MIRROR CONSERVATIVE DESTRUCTIVE FISCAL SCREWUPS. Yeah, I'd say I have a slightly larger knowledge base to "draw" from. ;)
