Bravo. I wanna know what nit-wit at Edmunds made this amazing analysis. That number is so far off the mark it's laughable.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
kallend 2,230 #3 October 30, 2009 Of course, the assumption is that Edmunds analysis is (a) accurate, and (b) unbiased. Both of those are very dubious assumptions.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

birdshit 0 #6 October 30, 2009 That report is pure bullshit. Quote ...but only 125,000 of those were vehicles that would not have been sold anyway... And how do they know how many cars would have been sold without the program in effect? They can't compare year over year cause we were deep in recession last year and domestic auto sales were down like 60%. Quote The average rebate was $4,000. But the overwhelming majority of sales would have taken place anyway at some time in the last half of 2009, according to Edmunds.com. Again, how do they know this? Quote The average rebate was $4,000. So if the average rebate was 4 grand, where did they get their numbers from? This report is biased, probably because the people running Edmunds have a hard on for Obama like some of the asshats that post on DZ.com.

Like the rest of obama's economic plan, to much money for to little. NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- A total of 690,000 new vehicles were sold under the Cash for Clunkers program last summer, but only 125,000 of those were vehicles that would not have been sold anyway, according to an analysis released Wednesday by the automotive Web site Edmunds.com. And with the economy sagging, they can take previous year's sales and try to superimpose that upon 2009? Yea, brilliant. But the overwhelming majority of sales would have taken place anyway at some time in the last half of 2009, according to Edmunds.com. Let me use that crystal ball for the Superbowl winner, pls. I think auto sales would have been horrible w/o the C4C. I'm not a big fan of it, but things had to be done. Your own article slams the methodology as bogus or at least incomplete. They can try that, but it's still guessing, just maybe a little more scientific. Did they do that? Pls show. Furthermore, using scientific processes in these times isn't as reliable as when times are stable. Again, I would like to see tehir methodology. kelpdiver 2 #23 October 30, 2009 Did Edmunds actually detail their methodology? We all seen to be happy jerking each other off guessing on how well or stupidly they did it. If someone accelerated their purchase by 3-6 months to take advantage, is that a sale that would have happened anyway? Same for someone that delayed their purchase in the spring knowing the program was coming. And is their estimate any worse than the CDC's 80X multiplier for flu cases?
