U.S. prepares to bomb Iran

Recommended Posts

If you want to know how Obama will handle the situation, just go back a couple of months to the Iranian election and then the brutal crack down of the Iranian people after the corrupt results were released.

Believe it or not, we do have enough published history with Obama and the people he surrounds himself with to guess what he will do.

For those that haven't been paying attention, he will talk tough, but Iran will have nukes and we will just wag a finger at them.

Best quote I heard last week on Iran and current administration policy and response, from someone (old bio, he's pinned on another star and is now at USCENTCOM) who one might argue is paying a fair bit of attention:
"We know better than to just look at that current leader."

You may consider Iran a threat, as they hold you by the balls with all the oil they have, but they see you as a consumer of what they have.

Iran would have to be stupid to bomb the UDA as they 'would' lose thier best customer.

What percentage of US crude oil imports do you think come from Iran?

Maybe we could threaten not to repay the $trillion we owe them.

Obama is supporting the MOP production and will have to use it if he must. I understand that you are an Obama supporter, but what will you say about him if he must use the MOP on Iran?

And under what circumstances must he use it?

I'm trying to understand why Obama must attack another sovereign nation. What would force him to do that?

If Iran struck or continued its threats against Israel or the West. All I know is MOP production is in full force now....... doesnt' that make you wonder why?

Does anyone else find it funny that we made a SPORT out of an EMERGENCY PROCEDURE?!?!

If Iran struck us, ok. Don't see that happening.

But to attack them solely due to threats? Are they really a threat to the US at this point?

With Iran saying death to Israel and death to America, I think they are a threat.

I'm sure that Hitler would have used nukes in the 1940's if he had the available technology at that time. I don't see Mahmoud Ahmadinejad being any different and I don't believe the Pentagon does either.

Words don't constitute a real threat, and there's alot of people out there saying "death to America" right now. It's what happens when you piss off half the world by meddling in their affairs.

I may be way off, as I haven't been keeping up with news about their weapons development, but how are they a threat to the US? Are the going to send a few ICBMs this way? They know how that would end - they're not stupid.

While the man may not be the most reasonable person (although I say that knowing little about him other than what I've seen in the media), I'm sure he's no idiot. A nuclear attack against the US would probably result in Iran being wiped off the face of the earth - I'm sure he's aware of that.

The President of Iran is not the country's commander in chief. Control of the military, foreign policy, and nuclear policy do not fall under the Iranian president's authority.

In giving the Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Barack Obama, the members of the Nobel committee effectively closed the lid on the American military option in Iran. The prestigious award ties the president's hands; even if he had planned to order a U.S. military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities in the event that diplomatic negotiations failed, now he will have to forsake this option. It is clear that someone who has just been crowned a champion of world peace cannot take military action against a state that did not attack his country. We may also regretfully conclude that the Nobel Peace Prize is Iran's secure ticket to nuclear arms. If there was still a chance that an American military action could end the Iranian nuclear project, now the members of the Nobel committee have sentenced that project to life.

The Norwegian decision should force policy makers in Jerusalem to acknowledge that the likelihood that Iran will acquire nuclear arms in the near future has grown considerably. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, convinced that he returned from Washington with a U.S. promise to prevent Iran from going nuclear, must now accept the loss of the American military option. And the chances of a successful Israeli strike against the Iranian facilities have always been low. The natural conclusion is that Israel must prepare for a new Middle East in which it is no longer perceived as holding nuclear hegemony.

The Iranian leadership has also heard of it, which is why they don't have their eggs all in one very visible basket.

I guess Obama doesn't want to go down in history as the the sitting president when Iran became nuclear. That wouldn't look good for the first African American president to allow such a regime to acquire nukes while on his watch. Therefore, lets speed up the MOP production ASAP.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,565400,00.html

Why? Bush 'allowed' North Korea to acquire weapons. Clinton 'allowed' Pakistan.

It's not really fully within the President's power to prevent nations from pursuing nuclear weapons.

The USA has proved it is not responsible enough to hold absolute power, so the world has now lost its trust in her. This has been happening for decades and the country has been told many times but they simply will not listen.

This has been true since the begin of civilizations. At least when viewed from the perspective of the others.

Russia halts TOR-M1, S-300 air, missile defense missiles to Iran
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

October 12, 2009, 2:55 PM (GMT+02:00)

Russian TOR-M1 anti-air missile
DEBKAfile's military sources report that Russia's abrupt suspension of consignments of advanced Tor-M1 air defense missiles and S-300 anti-missile systems has left Tehran high and dry for effective weapons to defend itself and its nuclear facilities against attacks.

Our Iranian sources disclose that extreme frustration prompted the boasts of Revolutionary Guards Deputy Commander Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami Sunday, Oct. 11, that Tehran's hi-tech missiles can repel any attack.

I think it would be best to let Iran evolve from the inside. They already are in quite a low standing amongst many arab nations under the cloak of the palestinian purpose... People are starting to see through them, especially their own people. Political unrest there is growing and NO ONE will win in a "Nuke Standoff" There might be people still standing, but no winners. Best thing to do is destroy every nuke on the planet and never allow uranium enrichment anywhere for any purpose, but, we all know that will NEVER happen (too dependent on it now), so, the worlds ending and I leave you with a quote from mr Bob Marley..."Have no fear for atomic energy, cause none of them can stop -a- da times" So, I suppose if your gonna put your faith in humanity, grab a chair and sit back and watch us destroy each other, cause the world is run by morons.

The question should really be, how much of the total known crude oil reserves are in Iranian territory.

And why if the USA consumes 25% of the earths energy supply, are they not trading with Iran

Iran has been reducing its exposure to the dollar as the United States has ratcheted up sanctions because of a dispute over Tehran's nuclear programme.

Yes, I do - care to explain what significance a sandstorm has to israel attacking iran, or is this another one of those things that only makes sense in dreamdancer-world?
