Ion01 2 #1 October 1, 2009 "This is what the Republicans want you to do. If you get sick America, the republican health care plan is this: Die quickly!" -Alan Grayson So, they can call us racists, lie, compare us to Nazis, etc, but if we dare point out the fact they accuse us of lying, if we call one of them a communist (when he is and calls himself that) they go crazy and say we can't call name like that......if we use a term like "death panels" to describe something in the healthcare bill (something thats actually there, you can read it for yourself) say its a lie and how dare we say such a thing, but they can lie and say the above? They can have abortions and end of life counciling, some even advocate that you can kill children up to the age of two, they can offer to pay for assisted suicide with tax money instead of treatment, they can advocate for making people sterile without them knowing, and they want to destroy the best healthcare system in the world........... and it is the republicans who want people to die? I am not a republican but get real!

Which, I guess, makes it not a double standard, but a single one - albeit a stinky one: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/9/29/787607/-GOP-congressman:-President-Obama-an-enemy-of-humanity QuoteGOP congressman: President Obama an "enemy of humanity" by Jed Lewison Tue Sep 29, 2009 at 01:46:04 PM PDT Speaking at the conservative "How To Take Back America" conference in St. Louis Missouri on September 26, here's video of Arizona Republican Congressman Trent Franks saying conservatives "need to realize" President Obama is "an enemy of humanity" who has "no place in any station of government": Notice that Franks, who made his comments in the context of a discussion about abortion, didn't just call President Obama "an enemy of humanity," he said conservatives "need to realize that he's an enemy of humanity." And he didn't stop there. Franks also said the President "has no place in any station of government." Think about that for a moment. Franks isn't making a policy argument. He's doing just the opposite. He's vilifying President Obama. He's inciting hatred. And he's encouraging his fellow extremists to come to the conclusion that President Obama "has no place in any station of government." Through a spokeswoman, Franks has now qualified his remarks, saying he meant to say President Obama's was an enemy of 'unborn' humanity, and that his policies on abortion don't belong in government at any level. The spokeswoman's statement defies credulity, however, particularly as it relates to Franks assertion that Obama "has no place in any station of government." Its clear from the context that Franks was talking about the President, not the policies. Having a spokeswoman spin a tale about what Franks actually meant to say just won't cut it. Instead of offering spin, Franks should step forward himself and apologize for what he actually said and admit that he was wrong. The reason why this is so troubling is that we've heard this kind of rhetoric before. It's the same sort of language that has fueled right-wing terrorism against abortion clinics for years. And now it's coming from a member of the United States Congress, directed towards the President of the United States of America.

Lucky... 0 #4 October 1, 2009 Quote wait, the best healthcare in the world? He meant the 37th best. Of course the author of that passage was sarcastically transposing that to any die-hard Repblican and how the R's feel about it, not how he feels about it. This is outside of Obama's views on abortion (because I don't know what they are exactly and don't care to find out right this minute): If views on abortion don't belong in government at any level, then shouldn't abortion automatically be legal? After all, the government doesn't GIVE us freedoms - it limits freedoms we have to the extent allowed by the Constitution. Therefore, the absence of government means no limitations to something you should be able to do legally. Prohibiting abortion is government involvement with the issue. rehmwa 2 #6 October 1, 2009 Finally - we haven't had a protracted thread on the definition of hypocrisy in what? about 1 day? It's fun to see the adult reasoning: "My party is good, yours are hypocrits" "nuh-uh - yours is" "nuh-uh" "uh-huh" "nuh-uh" "uh-huh" "wuss" "asshole" "I win" "no you didn't" ...
