Ten Things that Chafes my Ass . . .

Recommended Posts

(Your list of ten may vary).

1. People who say, "If you haven't done anything wrong don't worry about it," when it comes to fourth amendment rights.

2. People who bag on President Carter when history will show him probably the most decent and honest President we've had to date. (Although Obama will certainly be in the running). Most Carter haters cite Reagan in comparison, but fail to realize we are electing a chief executive and not a half assed substitute for John Wayne.

3. Anyone who believes anything Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck says.

4. People in their twenties who think liberalism is radical. Or for that matter anyone in their twenties who isn't a radical.

5. Those people who call into C-Span on the Republican line without any grasp of the issues but express such a burning hatred for Obama you can hear in their quivering voices. Face it - they're racist.

6. People who hate the ACLU. What's really comical is most of these folks don't realize the ACLU does more to protect Constitutional rights than anyone else, even for the most hideous among us. But, sooner or later, the ACLU comes down on the wrong side of something you belive in. But guess what? In that case what you belive in is un-Constitutional.

7. Gun Nuts, Survivalists, and Religious Zealots. This could have been the last three, but that would be cheating. I own a weapon, but I'd be willing to turn it in if everyone else did. But that's pie in the sky while the number of gun deaths (both murder and suicide) in this country is indefensible. As for survivalists and religious zealots, one claims a faith in themselves and the other a faith in a higher being, Hello! Try having some faith in the human race and reality!

8. Fox News.

9. People who hate the media. (Fox News isn't media). A free press is always worth the trouble of weeding through the BS. That's been a fact of life since the first newspaper hit the street in the 1600s.

10. People who can't distinguish bias from truth. Sure, there is bias on both the liberal and conservative sides. But you will find more truth in the former and more agenda driven drivel in the latter.

Right, they need to be preventative.

And the fools think Reagan's entry into office is what caused the release of the American hostages in Iran.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_hostage_crisis

Algerian diplomat Abdulkarim Ghuraib's negotiations between the U.S. and Iran resulted in the "Algiers Accords"[106] of January 19, 1981. The Algiers Accords called for Iran's immediate freeing of the hostages, the unfreezing of $7.9 billion of Iranian assets and immunity from lawsuits Iran might have faced in America, and a pledge by the United States that "it is and from now on will be the policy of the United States not to intervene, directly or indirectly, politically or militarily, in Iran's internal affairs."

The release of the hostages came a day after President Carter's term ended. While Carter had an "obsession" with finishing the matter before stepping down," the hostage takers are thought to have wanted the release delayed as punishment for his perceived support for the Shah.

The release was all about the Algier Accord, which coincidentally happened the day before Reagan took office.

Boobs will claim and brag that the fear of old diapers Ronnie and the entire Republican Party scares the world into submission, I guess the bombers of the Beirut Barracks didn't get that memo and didn't feel the pinch, as Reagan did nothing to retaliate or find the purveyors of said horrible event. And then with 911 that clarifies the world is not affraid of the Republican Party as is advertised by its followers.

Does this require any comment?

4. People in their twenties who think liberalism is radical. Or for that matter anyone in their twenties who isn't a radical.

Liberalism can radical and people in their 20's can be radical, they just have to follow that path. I prefer a little bit of radical or the ability to be.

5. Those people who call into C-Span on the Republican line without any grasp of the issues but express such a burning hatred for Obama you can hear in their quivering voices. Face it - they're racist.

Yea, but I would define it as simple ignorance under the guise of hatred. Ignorance breeds fear, fear breeds hate.

Yep, people cherry-pick an ACLU issue and run with it as if it represents all ACLU actions, then decry US COnst infringments, for which the ACLU defends.

Guns are guns and nuts are nuts. Put em together and what do we have? Gun nuts. I refer to seperate the two and dislike nuts, love guns.

8. Fox News.

Just because they should their objectivity by laughing at anything liberal as a way of honest news reporting? You must be unAmerican.

The media is more valuable than the ACLU or even our Bill of Rights.

And that's because the left will talk your ear off, the right will slam the door and call a person stupid that doesn't agree with them. The right is an ideology that is an inflexible state of being, the left is a very flexible set of ideals that can be molded.

(Note to self: Write-in "NickDG" on the next ballot.)

To elaborate on #2:
I would rate Carter as the most decent human being to hold the office of POTUS in my lifetime.
The problems he had were:
- He was a Washington outsider who didn't have connections in DC.
- He appointed people he knew to his cabinet, but they were outsiders as well.

So it wound up in a stand-off with the DC establishment, with both sides in an us/them mentality.

I don't think Carter was presidential, he would have been a better diplomat. Of course after the Nixon/Ford mess the next Dem was a shoe-in. Ford may have been a good president too if he hadn't sold his soul to the devil known as Nixon.

1. People who claim to support the Constitution, yet ignore the 2nd Amendment.

2. People who bag on Reagan (or really anyone) and use lame insults like, "he was a wanna be John Wayne." Carter is a great MAN, but he was a lousy President... anyone remember the misery index? Anyone remember who created the Community Reinvestment Act? And yes, I'd say the same about a person who claimed Carter was a stupid pnut farmer... He was a Naval officer and he took graduate work in reactor technology and nuclear physics.

3. Anyone who believes anything Rachel Maddox, Randi Rhodes, Heck ANY single source of information to include Rush.

4. People in their 30's that don't see the importance of not giving away the store.

5. Anyone that thinks that only one side has cornered the market on idiots.

6. People who automatically claim anyone that disagrees with Obama is a racist.

7. People who love the National ACLU and ignore the fact that they don't recognize the 2nd as a right worthy of protection.

8. People who are willing to surrender other people rights against their will. People who are willing to spend other peoples money against their will.

9. People who try to claim that THEIR version of freedom is fine (say gay marriage), but that someone else's freedom (say of religion) is wrong.

10. People who can't distinguish bias from truth and think only ONE side has a market on slinging BS.

11. People who have to use insults and are unable to discuss subjects with facts.

In your opinion.

And in the opinion of voters over the last 2 elections. DOn't make me research the list of idiots, I have done waaaaay too much research lately. It's kinda moot at this point, the idiots sit on the right side of the isle, but after they fix things and corrupt, which is inevitable, then they will collect on the left. But for now....

See you busted #'s 5, 10 AND 11.... Congratulations!

You just proved you can't debate on facts and have to use insults.

There have been some good ass-chafers posted; I'm not going to repeat all of them (obviously I don't agree with all of them). But here are a few of mine.

1. People who take an all-or-nothing approach to isuses. "Either you're with me or you're a communist" or "either you are for no limitations whatsoever on guns or you're against the 2nd amendment"

2. People who can only see things from their own perspective (which relates to #1, of course)

3. People who think that never compromising on anything is a virtue

4. People who deny that racism still exists, along with people who see racism in everything

5. People whose version of freedom limits someone else's. Yeah, I'm thinking of things like gay marriage here. A gay marriage does not impact someone who disagrees with it nearly as much as a lack of it impacts people who would use it.

6. People who ignore data that disagrees with them, and only look for or recognize data that supports what they think.

7. anyone who doesn't recognize my inherent reasonableness and superiority :P

(Your list of ten may vary).

1. People who say, "If you haven't done anything wrong don't worry about it," when it comes to fourth amendment rights.

Agree wholeheartedly.

[Reply]2. People who bag on President Carter when history will show him probably the most decent and honest President we've had to date. (Although Obama will certainly be in the running). Most Carter haters cite Reagan in comparison, but fail to realize we are electing a chief executive and not a half assed substitute for John Wayne.

Problem was Carter, though a nice enough fella, was ineffective as chief executive. His is a lesson of how idealism can be ineffective in the real political world.

[Reply]3. Anyone who believes anything Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck says.

I don't believe or disbelieve. I neither watch nor listen to any of the above. But I reckon that they aren't always wrong. Neither is Olberman or Matthews.

I mis Russert.

[Reply]4. People in their twenties who think liberalism is radical. Or for that matter anyone in their twenties who isn't a radical.

It was why I have been libertarian since my teens - my own rebellion.

[Reply]5. Those people who call into C-Span on the Republican line without any grasp of the issues but express such a burning hatred for Obama you can hear in their quivering voices. Face it - they're racist.

I am unfamiliar with whom you speak, but the picture you've painted makes it clear.

[Reply]6.

Nick - even this is case by case. There are frequent rifts between the national, state and local ACLU because the national ACLU may come out in favor of gun control while a local ACLU comes out against it.

[Reply]7.

I own a gun. I would only turn it in with a constitutional amendment. And not willingly.

I dislike zealots of all sides - except for those who are zealous about personal liberty.

[Reply]8. Fox News.

I don't mind them. In fact, they are the one organization that will report certain things. Tomorrow night will be live from Lemoore - where we are being destroyed by politics holding water back. A government mandated dust bowl.

I'd love to see CNN anf MSNBC hop on board. I beg them to do so.

[Reply]9. People who hate the media. (Fox News isn't media). A free press is always worth the trouble of weeding through the BS. That's been a fact of life since the first newspaper hit the street in the 1600s.

I love the media. All of it. Even Fox and MSNBC (where I get my news). But the press should not be sucking political dicks.

[Reply]10. People who can't distinguish bias from truth. Sure, there is bias on both the liberal and conservative sides. But you will find more truth in the former and more agenda driven drivel in the latter.

I agree, though I believe it equal from both sides.
Fact - 2 + 2 = 4.
Bias - 4 is better for everyone than 2.

Bias is seen everywhere. Both sides present opinion as fact. Bias - Fox news is not media
Fact - Fox news is media, with a slant you don't like.
