isn't california one of those states that it is illegal to fire someone for not showing up? maybe that is what bill is hung up on.

I'm not aware of any such restriction. CA is an at-will employment state, so they don't need a reason to terminate your employment (or for you to quit without notice)

Yes; generally, employers can generally terminate employees for excessive unexcused (or unexplained) absenteeism.

A few exceptions to this general rule would be when the employer terminates an employee for absenteeism, when the reason the employee was absent was because he was taking FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) leave, or was absent due to a condition qualifying as a disability under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) (sometimes), or was absent due to a period of "temporary total disability" under some states' Workers' Compensation laws.

Does there need to be a legal issue for impeachment ?

1- Misuse of the state funds for the trip.

Is that it?
There seems to be a lot of that going around.

Many politicians have been caught using state transportation
to go to re-election events. Nobody is screaming about those.

It is never the crime, but always the coverup.

Seems like he is a dope, but not guilty on a
major issue.

he will stay in office, the political machine needs him to stay to protect their future candidate

the rules on the State plane use have never been clear or enforced, if they want to ding him they will have to go back to all previous governors

his effectiveness won't change
Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

Under Article XV, Section 1 of the South Carolina Constitution, the grounds for impeachment of "officials elected on a statewide basis" (including the governor) is simply "serious crimes or serious misconduct in office."

I'd think that (a) fraudulently attempting to steal government funds and services by using government aircraft for strictly personal purposes, while lying about the purpose of the trips, without intent to promptly reimburse the treasury until he was caught, and (b) going AWOL from the governor's office and remaining incommunicado for a week, without placing anyone else in charge of the government, and initially lying about his whereabouts, probably qualifies enough to issue bills of impeachment and bring him to trial.

Sorry, I haven't really been interested enough to follow this.
I didn't realize that he was a Rep. gov.

Under the above quoted statue, it does mention the word "serious" a few times. What is the definition of "serious" ?

Using the Dem dictionary, aren't "lying about affairs under oath", and the rest of it, defined as "business as usual" ?
:D:D

Didn't the Arkansas state police transport the flavor-of-the-week around? :D

Man... I think the Dems set the Gold Standard for this one, didn't they ? They've posted stellar examples every 5 years since the 60s.

Remember Jesse Jackson giving BC some advice?
Excellent.

Pretty hard to fake the moral high ground on this one
and be taken seriously.
:D:D

it's difficult to keep up with all the crap that people believe, so there's little reason to presume you're joking versus clueless versus thinking about Iraq.
