kallend 2,147 #26 August 3, 2009 Quote There are very good fact checking sites out there too, and DZ.COM is not one of them Seems to have worked in this case.... So if it does work, then your theory has been proven false. Thank you for admitting that I have credibility. ... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. Ron 10 #27 August 3, 2009 QuoteThank you for admitting that I have credibility I think you are normally one of the more logical people I know... In fact, you have taught me a few things about debate. But, I also think you sometimes throw that logic right out the window on certain issues. QuoteHowever, just as one rose does not make a summer, so dz.com still is not a reliable fact checking site. Many times BS has been posted and shot down quickly.... This is not the single rose, but one pulled from a garden. I don't' get my news from DZ.com.... But I have gotten leads on news story's here that I later went out and read more about."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
kelpdiver 2 #28 August 3, 2009 QuoteQuote Prudent people check before posting rubbish. Prudent people also ask questions before the believe something.... The OP here asked a QUESTION to check the validity of something. There's no question mark in the OP's subject heading. Instead there are 3 exclamation points. nerdgirl 0 #31 August 3, 2009 On the subject of website user agreements, I had to go to the JSOU website earlier today, which required agreeing to the terms of the attached screen shot of the User Agreement in order to gain access. The terseness of the 4th dashed line made me chuckle: “security measures ... to protect USG interests - not for your personal benefit or privacy.” Aka, it's not about you. /Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. PhreeZone 20 #32 August 3, 2009 Marg, I honestly respected you until I saw that your Windows theme is pink... If you are freaked out by the Terms of Service that the dealers have to agree to to get access to the DOT computer network then you really need to sit and read the End User License for some of the software that you install on your computer. I'm not freaked out. I thought the JSOU User Agreement was acerbically pithy and unintentionally funny at the same time. /Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. Probably so, but so far that has not caught my attention, this did. I am sure we all agree, acknowledge etc. this type of whacko stuff all the time and don't realize it, but like I said, this I saw so I put it out there for comment and to see how it would or would not affect me or my sister. 1969912 0 #37 August 3, 2009 A bit off-topic, but the link below shows (with video) how they destroy the engine of a car traded in under the program. The oil is drained and replaced with a "sodium silicate" solution, which hardens after being heated to the point where all water is driven off. The engine seizes, and is destroyed (well, sorta...) Kind of interesting/clever. http://www.greencarreports.com/blog/1033857_killing-your-clunker-correctly-how-a-dealer-disables-it "Once we got to the point where twenty/something's needed a place on the corner that changed the oil in their cars we were doomed . . ." -NickDG
