Text of H.R. 3200 - America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009

Recommended Posts

It's 1000 pages long. The President doesn't know what's in it. More likely than not, your Congressman doesn't know either.

Some of my favorite parts:

SEC. 59B. TAX ON INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT ACCEPTABLE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE.

‘(a) Tax Imposed- In the case of any individual who does not meet the requirements of subsection (d) at any time during the taxable year, there is hereby imposed a tax equal to 2.5 percent of the excess of--CommentsClose CommentsPermalink

‘(1) the taxpayer’s modified adjusted gross income for the taxable year, overCommentsClose CommentsPermalink

‘(2) the amount of gross income specified in section 6012(a)(1) with respect to the taxpayer.

...and this...
Quote

‘(d) Acceptable Coverage Requirement-....
‘(F) VA- Coverage under the veteran’s health care program under chapter 17 of title 38, United States Code, but only if the coverage for the individual involved is determined by the Secretary in coordination with the Health Choices Commissioner to be not less than the level specified by the Secretary of the Treasury, in coordination with the Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs and the Health Choices Commissioner, based on the individual’s priority for services as provided under section 1705(a) of such title.

Just a few gems to yell at my Senators and Congressmen about while I urge them to kill this initiative. ...and that was just from my first 10 minutes of browsing.

Check it out. I heard something on the radio about reporting about equipment being used or some crap like that...:|:S
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

What the FUCK does that mean? Holy shit! Does the author even undestand that line of shit?
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

It means that if you are on a VA health plan, the Secretary (I think that's the Secretary of Health and Human Services) can decide, without further approval from anyone, to impose an additional 2.5% income tax on you.

It even allows use on an individual basis, so they could just penalize you, but not other veterans. Or they could do it to all veterans, at the whim of the Secretary.

Damn, that's crazy.

This is the kind of shit that politicians want to us to jump on board for? GREAT!

No. That's the kind of shit politicians hope you don't notice until 15 years later, when they can say "hey, you should have known it was there all along."

It means if you are under Vetrans coverage, and the VA say you are granted a certain level of coverage, the Sec. will tax you if you underutilize it. Sounds like you are being taxed for not spending tax money.

Life imitates art:
Quote

"But Mr Dent, the plans have been available in the local planning office for the last nine months."

"Oh yes, well as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn't exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them, had you? I mean, like actually telling anybody or anything."

"But the plans were on display ..."

"On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them."

"That's the display department."

"With a flashlight."

"Ah, well the lights had probably gone."

"So had the stairs."

"But look, you found the notice didn't you?"

"Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."

This one really burns me:

SEC. 102. PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE.
(a) Grandfathered Health Insurance Coverage Defined- Subject to the succeeding provisions of this section, for purposes of establishing acceptable coverage under this division, the term ‘grandfathered health insurance coverage’ means individual health insurance coverage that is offered and in force and effect before the first day of Y1 if the following conditions are met:CommentsClose CommentsPermalink

(1) LIMITATION ON NEW ENROLLMENT-CommentsClose CommentsPermalink

19(A) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1

---------------------------------
So the bottom line is insurance companies cannot enroll new participants after the government's plan goes into effect. The insurance companies will all die off, and we'll be stuck with the government plan whether we want it or not because that's all there will be.

So basically the congressmen, etc.. that are saying the program won't keep people from getting private coverage are full of shit?

"You can keep your current coverage" - True

"You can't ever sign up for private insurance again if you stop it though" - The part they didn't want anyone to read before they passed it.

The people that pull this shit need to be drug into the streets and beaten to within an inch of their lives. >:(

I'd love to see them put their money where their mouth is, and put a rider on the bill that Obama and every Congresscritter that votes for this steaming pile of shit HAS to use it as their sole insurance.

They'll do that right after they vote in term limits for Congress. :|

And right before "clean" bills.... I know.

It's a nice fantasy, though...better than their fantasy that they're trying to put over on us.
