California's budget. YOU decide how to make up the deficit

>back to being wild, the way they were when people started visiting them
>to begin with, and let people hike in to camp if they want to.

I'd be all for that.

Unfortunately, it would cost more in the long run. Someone would slip and fall and break their pelvis, and the emergency vehicle wouldn't be able to get there quickly due to the road being washed out. And the lawsuits would begin.

Now, couple the down-management of the parks with some tort reform and you've got something.

yeah...sorry to the "no new taxes" crowd. Sometimes, you just have to bite the bullet and raise em up.

I ended up with about 2-4 cuts (only 1 from education) from each area and a few new taxes.

So you raise taxes which results in people and business leaving the state for states with lower taxes meaning you actually being in less money than before.
Or you could lower taxes to attract people and businesses to your state so you tax a whole lot more people businesses and thing meaning you make more money.

Like CA needs more people!

We absolutely do. We need more people that contribute to society, rather than people that live off those that do. Higher taxes rid us of the producers and revenue generators; not the ones that need to go and are sucking our state dry of resources.

??

There are many trails that require hiking in to campsites, and if you fall you're rely on people carrying you out by hand (or helicopter). Joshua Tree is an example of this - it took about a dozen people (mostly volunteer SAR) to get my mother out one mile with a tib/fib break.

The bigger problem is that too many people can love a small spot of wilderness to death. If you don't have working bathrooms, we literally crap it to death. Erosion is the other result of uncontrolled overuse.

But parks that have a buffer zone between the parking and the desired wilderness may work out fine for the most part. Even in Yosemite, you lose a significant majority of the people by just hiking a couple hundred vertical feet from the valley floor.

you can cut every program listed and still have a $841,000,000.00 deficit.

Nic e how the LA Times picks and chooses and won't let you cut partial funding. LITTLE bias never hurt anyone.

Notice how the LA times game doesn't mention services to illeagle aliens?

It actually does - It mentions something about 19k illegals in jail being deported for 120 million.

What it doesn't say is that the cost savings for medical treatment, education, and welfare for all the illegals would save many MNAY times more than that.

Deport the gangs - save on the need for as much police -

He is not including the "one time fixes." those arent exactly cuts and most are pretty stupid anyway, well, borrowing more money than we can pay back in the alotted time anyway... sounds familiar, something the federal Gov't is running an experiment on right now i think on a much grander scale...

I don't know where you are getting that if you cut every program you still need more, if you cut everything you certainly do get enough. You have to cut things like education and whatnot, but you can still do it.

The options listed are NOT the only programmes that you could cut. Try starting with the legislations salaries, helth care, expense accounts and media relations budgets - But those things are not listed. Try going with a less socialistic welfare and cut all but the fundiung required to sustain people, not make them rich. Do something about Octo-mom! In serriousness - cut healthcare and welfare flor illegal aliens - THAT is an enormous number right there - but Not listed as an option. Cut education for illegal aliens - That is not an poption listed. Cut all spending, less what is needed for law enforcement regarding the illegal aliens and the budget might be almost balanced right there. Bottom line - if you came into this country without permission - you get nothing.

>In serriousness - cut healthcare and welfare flor illegal aliens . . .

You see an illegal immigrant hit by a car. You've seen her around before; she has no money and hangs around looking for work at Home Depot with her brother. She's 15, and is lying there bleeding on the street with a broken back. The guy who hit her drives away.

Do you call 911?

Of course. That is not health care. That is Emergency Medicine. As soon as they are able, ship them back to their country of origin, let them come back in a legal way. Bill their country of origin for the medical costs, and take it out of whatever assistance programs we do for them.

If we are going to spend money and build the dollar we have to be spending it on the ones that pay taxes. Not the ones that bypass everything and then expect to be taken care of.
