Don't Wind Up On The Business End Of This Gun

Recommended Posts

SF teams have been mounting those on gun trucks/Hummers since around 2005. The scunnion they bring and the bad guys reaction to one when it opens up is simply amazing to watch. They do require a good deal of maintenance and the gunner needs to know a good deal about the weapon to make it operate correctly.

While i'm certainly no expert on urban warfare, i believe i can safely make the statement that the more lead you can spray, the more heads you can keep down until countermeasures can be utilized. I estimate that this weapon fires 1200-1500 RPS. It is of course belt driven, and earlier i said i felt as if the barrell was cooled by air, i'm not sure but when the second SUV drove up there was a trickle of water coming down the port low side of the gun. My son told me this gun is utilized for defense from roof top fire ie: RPG's Grenade Launchers, etc...My son also advises me that these SUVS have PRG capability as well.

But is anybody really wanna kill our Commander & Cheif??

In this video, it sounds more like 3000-4500 Rounds per minute. the Buzz-saw sounds very close to our CIWS when we do PAC fires.

He represents America. He is a target.

3000-6000 RPM. Air cooled. Electrically driven.

Updated GE M134 minigun in 7.62x51 NATO which is nearly the same as .308 Winchester.

As much point as a cock on a priest. Seeing as wherever the POTUS goes he closes half the bloody city and is surrounded by hundreds of Secret Service. And thats just when he's visiting European capitals. :S

At the recent Annapolis graduation, the cadets were told they couldn't wear their swords (part of the dress uniform, and about as sharp as a butter knife).

Because Annapolis grads are likely to be terrorists?

Damnifino....didn't make a lick of sense to me, especially seeing as how those same cadets will, in a few more months, be getting the keys to supersonic fighters, bombers, ships....

Probably more because a missing sword is a bigger deal when the president is there than when he isn't. And if these are the swords I am thinking of, they are dull but quite pointy.

Yep. They're definitely not toys.

Never said they were - just said they weren't 'quite pointy'.

I'd like to hear the opinions of the gun experts here on this one. Is it really effective to spray so many bullets out at once?

Seeing how I am probably the only one posting in this thread who has actually used this weapon in combat, I can definitively say that it is effective to have a weapon with this capability. Especially when you are operating as a small element and can effectively deliver devastating pinpoint firepower to the intended target. Aside from the 50 cal MG, this is the weapon I want on my gun trucks. The only negative thing I can say about it is the maintenance/parts required and ease of operator induced error which leads to malfunction sometimes. It is also very easy to go through a lot of ammo, very very quickly if the gunner gets trigger happy.

Vortex prefers his "Juice Dispenser" because the BG's look so thirsty;)

A nice combo is four trucks, 1 or 2 with a Dillon 134, a M2QCB on 1 or 2 of them and a MK19

Plenty of MK46 and a few LR rifles in the back.

That why it would suck to attack a patrol with anything but IED's if they actually engage they will get their asses handed to them.

An IED wouldn't even dent one of those trucks, they've got as much armor as a tank.

Somehow, I'm guessing that LouDiamond has the real scoop on that, if he's allowed to divulge it on the internet.

I don't doubt, but it's rweider that said that...and the MRAP and it's cousins aren't classified programs.
