Beck's agenda is to make money on his TV show; Basso's agenda is publicity. Doesn't mean either one is wrong or evil, of course. Both are goals that are quite laudable in any capitalist, democratic society.

It is for torture supporters, anti-gun activists and anti-tax crusaders.

Everyone picks and chooses when it comes to what part of the Constitution they want recognized. Some gun supporters seem to think that the Constitution consists purely of the Second Amendment. Many left wingers seem to think that the Second Amendment was some sort of gigantic mistake, or at best a historical anachronism. Right wingers would prefer that the 16th Amendment didn't exist.

I'm definitely a progressive, and I don't hate what this country stands for. I also think that all sane, law-abiding adults should be able to buy guns here in the US, that torture is, and always has been, unconstitutional, and that the presidency here in the US now has far more power than the Founding Fathers envisioned.

I'm a progressive because I think we have to continue to make progress. We have to continue to improve things; we can't sit on our asses and hope someone else will do all the work for us. Things change, and if we work hard at it we can make sure most of those changes are for the better. Slaves are freed. Women get the vote. Blacks, women, and now gays are getting the same rights as everyone else. We move from horses to steam cars to gas cars to electric cars. We move from coal to oil to natural gas to nuclear to solar and wind. We move from an army and a navy to an air force and a space-based surveillance system. We move from letters to hand cranked telephones to trunk lines to cellphones, email and Youtube. And that happens because we, the progressives, make it happen.

(By the way, if you want reform, and you want to change our structure of government to a more constitutional way of doing things - guess what? In that way, you are a progressive too.)

He says nothing ey? Oh so you think I didn't, actually, listen the first few times i watched it. Aight... let me see.

1. Obama wants to build a new foundation for government. Paine said there is nothing wrong with the republic we already have... I agree and that is pretty important.
2. Representatives are not listening to us, doing whatever they please... dead on!
3. Stop with party politics and raise the national debate about principles. Hmmm, didn’t Obama call for the end of political games and partisan politics? And now he is nose deep in it. Just like Bush... he is a liar.
4. Principles, not policies... just as Glenn has said: Every decision that we make should be guided by principles... not based on special interests and lobbyists.
5. We have lost our economic sovereignty because we don’t want to feel the pain of a recession. America is safer and stronger when independent. Not giving our sovereignty to the UN and the IMF... pretty fricken important! And we have already begun to lose our sovereignty, and civil liberties.
6. Illegal immigration: ENFORSE OUR LAWS! Cause they are not! That’s important... though McCain and Obama both want to let in anyone who wishes to come to our country. How about they come in through the front door? Ya know... I’d love to live in Norway, work and BASE... will they give me a green card? Nope! Not unless I am a doctor or something they needed badly.
7. Self-reliance, personal responsibility... no one is entitled to anything they do not earn. That is the backbone of our foundation. Something we have lost in this country. Now its entitlement and the professional victim. Yup! Important. Used to piss me off when I scrubbed toilets, mopped floors and was a cashier at food lion... when people would get two shopping carts full of food with food stamps... and then come back for cases of beer and cartons of cigs. Fucking BS! And now they don’t even have to have the stamps... they get a handy dandy swipe card.

The best way to help the poor is to make them uncomfortable in their poverty. (Me - Cause then they work hard to get out of it! , just like the majority of successful people in this country do, work hard!)

8. When the government does for you what you should be doing for yourself... you loose your freedom. Yup! Cause government will just get bigger and bigger.
9. Without returning to what made this country great…...our founding principles... there will be no change. Damn straight!

No Ideas? Bull! We only need one idea. Lets get back to the basics. Every problem we have can be solved by making decisions according to our principles. Bailouts... totally against our principles. If we made our decisions through looking at principles, TARP never would have happened.

Give these values and principles a whirl... think the majority of our leaders can say they have abided by them?

Firstly... Glenn Beck grew up poor. He has worked hard and it now successful. Even though when he was on CNN and years before, he almost lost his career because of low ratings... everyone thought he was crazy. Though he refused to talk about bull shit. But wait... now, everything he has said is proving to be true. How convenient ey? Oh and he also gives 20% of his earnings to charity.

… you have no clue what Progressivism is... let me give you another classification. Companionate Conservatism. Most people have no clue what either really means.

Do you believe in personal responsibility and civil liberties? Progressives do not. They are all about, the collective.

Do you believe that government can get as big as it likes, and that’s a good thing! Progressives do.

Do you believe in Transnationalism? The idea that we should first be accountable to the UN and our constitution comes second. That international law should set precedents for here in this country. Progressives do. Can you say Sharia Law?

Do you agree with a strong central banking power? Like the Federal Reserve? They do... and it was a progressive president that gave us that... as well as a progressive gave us the UN and another who brought about the biggest expansion of government ever seen in this country.. all in the early 1900's. That was when we lost our country!

Well, this is how the definitions got so fucked up.

The founders of America were the Liberals. The Conservatives at the time were the Loyalists.

In 1770 the Conservative position (embracing traditional values) was loyalty to the king. The "Patriots" who wanted American independence were liberal radicals. The Loyalists used to level many of the same insults against them that Ann Coulter uses today against Liberals.

Yup, classifications have changed at different times. And there were many other structures too. You also have the Federalists, with the Federalist party... James Adams was one. And there were others too... brain farting at the moment though.
But the pure and simple fact is... people need to wake up and understand that Left and Right is total crap... watch the video. Progressivism is poison and both parties are drenched in it. We have to get away from the two party system and elect individuals who truly believe in the founding principles, and those who will say what they mean and mean what they say!

Otherwise we will loose our country for good... and we are running out of time...

I don't agree with Glen Beck's line showing where Dems, Reps, and the people supposedly are (that's towards the end of the video).

First of all, the whole left-right model is way too simplistic to usefully explain all the different issues & the different ways of dealing with them.

Secondly, Beck argues that the Republicans have moved too far to the "left" of the people.

Barry Goldwater had a completely different perspective. He was called "Mr. Conservative" during the 60s. However, he got disillusioned with the GOP when it started embracing the Religious Right.Quote:

When Goldwater met up with Bob Dole during Dole's Presidential campaign, he said to Dole: "We're the new liberals of the Republican party. Can you imagine that?"

So, unlike Beck, Goldwater perceived that the Republican party had moved too far to the right for his taste. He was now a "liberal" compared to the rest of the GOP, because he didn't agree with all the religious right crap, the homophobia, etc
