dreamdancer 0 #1 May 4, 2009 creepy stuff... QuoteFueled by the screeds of radio hosts Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, and the lesser-known, but increasingly influential, online conspiracist Alex Jones, many gun-show attendees I spoke to were convinced Obama planned to usher in a Marxist dictatorship. They warned that the president's power grab would only begin with mass gun seizures. "If Obama takes away our guns," a young, .45-caliber-pistol-toting man from Reno told me, "it's just a step into trying to take away everything else." Indeed, in their minds, average Americans opposed to the Obama agenda would be herded into FEMA-run concentration camps by a volunteer army of glassy-eyed liberal college graduates. "When they start imprisoning Americans, and people start seeing that we're the enemy, then that'll make it hot," predicted one young man from Antioch sporting a button for former Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul of Texas. "People talk about a revolution," the young man continued, "an armed revolution. I think police crackdowns on individuals will tip the scales." More than a few gun dealers and attendees echoed the young man's seeming enthusiasm for armed revolt. One Contra Costa, Calif., gun dealer named Rich predicted, during an otherwise casual off-camera conversation, that "some nut" would assassinate Obama within one year of any Democratic attempt at gun-control legislation. While the prospect of organized right-wing violence against the federal government seems far-fetched at this point, the paranoid rhetoric I documented suggests the militia movement that organized against President Bill Clinton's policies during the 1990s could experience a dramatic resurgence by mobilizing resentment against Obama. http://www.alternet.org/story/139018/armed_revolt_in_the_obama_era_right-wing_gun_nuts_share_their_paranoid_worldview/stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding
dmcoco84 5 #2 May 4, 2009 What a bunch of Bull Shit! Pathetic! Let me fill ya in on a few things! First of all… Glenn Beck, who I have been listening to for years, both on the radio and while he was on CNN railing against the massive expansion of government by George Bush and the republicans, has said numerous times that any individual who commits a violent act in the name of the Republic or to “protect the constitution,” is no better than an Islamic Suicide bomber, and should be in jail. Not only that, but he has also said if an armed revolution occurs in this country, it will be Chaos. It will be a French Revolution… not the glorious American Revolution where we united against England. The French Revolution did not end well… and an armed revolution will not restore our Republic. Anyone who thinks it would, IS CRAZY! Principles, Values, and Civil Disobedience are the words that Glenn Beck speaks. Funny to hear people say they hate Glenn Beck; that he’s a crazy, an alarmist, a populist and that entire load of BS… when they haven’t even listened to what he has to say. My neighbor, “Well I haven’t really seen his show but I don’t like him.” Pathetic! Glenn said the same things about Bush that he is saying about Obama… two years ago no one wanted to believe what he was saying, but now they are clearly true. THAT and only that, is the reason his ratings have skyrocketed! It’s because Americans are beginning to WAKE THE FUCK UP! In his past, his rating were tanking, but he wouldn’t sacrifice his morals for ratings. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC - Biased! FOX - Most definitely Biased! I don’t like any of them, and GLENN BECK IS NOT FOX NEWS! He is the only person I listen too on that network. When I heard he was changing over… I was both happy and worried… because I knew the attacks would begin instantaneously. As they have…. I can’t speak about Savage, he is on the radio at a time I can not listen. Though I can speak negatively about Rachel Maddow and others. Because I have been watching their shows as well… and the crap that is coming out of those “news” organization is down right ridiculous. They have no clue... Not only that, but if the government actually did find a way, to take away our guns… who do think will be sent to do so? Local Police. My father is a volunteer medic with the local SWAT team. I know a ton of cops from many different local cities… I know what the police are feeling and thinking… Police will never obey that order. Katrina was a special circumstance… though completely unconstitutional. Nice to see police throw an old woman to the ground, while she held her pistol by the barrel, unthreatening. She was protecting her granddaughter and her generator. After they confiscated it… she was robbed. And ya know what?! If anyone does come to my door, to take away my rifle, and my Glock. There most definitely will be rounds going through my door! You can pry them from my cold dead fingers. No one will ever take my boom stick! “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” Coco
Skyrad 0 #3 May 4, 2009 LOL...It would be scary if most Americans thought like that, but by the sound of it they asked a load of uneducated rednecks, and every country has their version of those. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Gawain 0 #4 May 4, 2009 Load of crap. I listen to Beck on the radio just about every morning, and while he's driving himself manic, he's never advocated armed revolt. He has advocated that people start paying attention. I don't get to listen to Michael Savage with regularity...being dramatic is his MO...and it hasn't changed much since President Obama has been in office. He was equally up in arms over President Bush.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! lawrocket 3 #16 May 4, 2009 Ahhh! Yet again we see that radio and online blogs are to blame for this new wave of anti-American, returning veteran, Ron Paul bumper sticker toting rednecks. Here is my bit of paranoia - why is right wing talk radio being blamed. Ask yourself - why would the author start off by averring that right-wing talk radio is causing it? Article about paranoid nuts who think Obama wants to take guns and be a dictator. No. Article about these dummies that is led off by blaming right wing talk radio and blogs. I see valuable clues in this. Why mention talk radio at all? Because the veiled point is to get those to hate right wing talk radio and build public support for killing or stifling it. Thus, the point is, "right wing talk radio must be stoppwd, because it creates these wackos.". Point 2: the author (and those on the radical fringe of the left) do not believe that these anybody on the right actually has thoughts or feelings that are not handed to them. if this is the case then they are wrong. The head of the Arky dem party gets capped. "Right wing talk radio is to blame!!!". This said within minutes of word getting out about the tragedy. They were wrong. No apology. The enemies of free speech are smart. If they say it enough it eventually is believed. And then will be justified to stamp it out. How does one create social change? Paranoia. And what better way than paranoia about the paranoia of others. I think this is an example of paranoia against talk radio. Sure, talk radio influences people. I know this personally. Without talk radio I would not do things like shout "BABA BOOEY!!!" at odd times. Or tell people "I'm Scores Man - gotta tattoo" even though I am neither Scores Man nor do I have a tattoo. My wife is hotter than your wife.

billvon 3,118 #18 May 4, 2009 >so you contend it's already happening? ================ Shooting deaths: 'None of it makes sense' April 26, 2009 - 4:24 PM Andrew Gant Daily News . . . On Sunday, lawmen still were investigating why Joshua Cartwright, a 28-year-old U.S. Army Reserve soldier with a history of violence, killed Okaloosa County sheriff's deputies Burt Lopez and Warren "Skip" York at a gun range in Crestview. A few minutes after he killed the deputies, Cartwright was himself killed in a shootout with lawmen in DeFuniak Springs. "None of it's logical, none of it makes sense," said interim Sheriff Ed Spooner on Sunday. "He'd obviously just got something else in his mind." An offense report filed against Cartwright the day he died outlines an angry husband who threatened his wife, kept guns and knives on hand, was "severely disturbed" that Barack Obama had been elected president, and believed the U.S. government was conspiring against him. ================== RICHARD POPLAWSKI, Pittsburgh Gunman, Kills 3 Police Officers April 4, 2009 09:36 PM EST | AP PITTSBURGH — A gunman wearing a bulletproof vest and "lying in wait" opened fire on officers responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday, killing three of them and turning a quiet Pittsburgh street into a battlefield, police said. Police Chief Nate Harper said the motive for the shooting isn't clear, but friends said the gunman recently had been upset about losing his job and feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns. . . . . Poplawski had feared "the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and "didn't like our rights being infringed upon," said Edward Perkovic, his best friend. . . . . Another longtime friend, Aaron Vire, said Poplawski feared that President Barack Obama was going to take away his rights, though he said he "wasn't violently against Obama." Vire, 23, said Poplawski once had an Internet talk show but that it wasn't successful. He said Poplawski owned an AK-47 rifle and several powerful handguns, including a .357 Magnum. =============================
