Andy9o8 2 #2 April 23, 2009 The defendant was a mentally ill person who was off his meds. His demeanor in court was characteristic of a mentally ill person who is off his meds. The judge knew this, because his probation violation - the very purpose for the hearing - was failure to take his medication. What the judge did was inexcusable. The judge should be suspended from the state bar and removed from office as a judge.
TrophyHusband 0 #3 April 23, 2009 interesting. yesterday i heard this story several times on two different radio stations and the mental illness was never mentioned. that is a shame since its such a vital part of the story. shouldn't he have just been removed from the courtroom? lippy 918 #4 April 23, 2009 Quote At the end of the hearing, the judge ordered bailiffs to remove the gag and said he hoped Frasure's condition would improve with being under state custody. Frasure responded, "You want to arm wrestle?" as he was led out of the courtroom by bailiffs. I got nuthin

Precisely! Clearly mentally ill, so they tape his mouth shut. Then throw him in jail.I have heard the LA county sherriff say that the jail there is the largest mental institution in the country. I know there have been cases where the accused was repeatedly disruptive, and the judge simply put him in a seperate room with a video conferencing setup. I don't know how feasable that would be for a simple probation hearing, but I think this was highly inappropriate."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Andy9o8 2 #7 April 23, 2009 QuoteI have heard the LA county sherriff say that the jail there is the largest mental institution in the country That's the case all over the country, especially in urban or near-urban jurisdictions. The number of mentally ill people in the jails would shock most ordinary laypeople. QuoteI know there have been cases where the accused was repeatedly disruptive, and the judge simply put him in a seperate room with a video conferencing setup. I don't know how feasable that would be for a simple probation hearing, It's extremely feasible, both technically and legally. It's done all the time, and has been for decades now.
