SFO tax protest

Recommended Posts

Quote

Honestly, I think the thing that the Republicans are mostly angry about is that Obama has adopted a time honored (or at least honored since the early 1980's) republican tactic of "borrow and spend." And he's done it in a huge way, far outdoing them at their own game.

I think it would be more accurate to say he has adopted the time honored tradition of previous Presidents in their first year of office, executing the budget signed by their respective predecessors.

In my local newspaper there were several photos of protest signs, and _every_ one of them referred to debt, not taxes.

So they were protesting because the government needs more revenue to cover its expenses? That probably didn't go over very well with the protesters carrying signs that read, "Taxed Enough Already," who appeared to be in favor of lower taxes.

Did you happen to notice where you got all your "quotes" Have you seen the numbers of what happened to the big three and the cable news shows because of the way the idiots reported it?

No, I got to believe you did not,,,,

By the way, the Obama admin has "polarized" this country more than any President in history (if you care to look at polls) This has happened despite his campain retoric.

I can definitely see that. Obama is trying to push through (and quickly) an agenda that's so far off-center, he can't help but polarize the public. What's amazing to me is that he's not _more_ polarizing, and I think that's a credit to his rhetorical skills.

62% approval rating is polarizing?

Quotes come from the Google News Feed. It's right there whenever I open up firefox via my igoogle.

Um, what happened to the big three? All I saw was everyone mocking the teabagging thing everywhere and making fun of how dumb the conservative party has become. You are walking around with blinders if you think any of this had a positive impact anywhere. The message of the day was lost, most people focused on the act of the symbolism instead of what it meant. On top of that every uneducated idiot used this as a way to get their misspelled extremist POV in front of a camera for 2 seconds.

I'm starting to believe that Murdoch wants the GOP to fail. I also noticed Kurtz went nuts about how dumb this event was, and he is also another one on the side of FNC.

edit: I never know when I am allowed to believe a poll and it's conclusion due to everyone on this forum flip-flopping on that topic.

I'm so confused in all of this... where were these republicans and their demonstrations against unnecessary gov't spending when Bush was in office??? :S

Your mistake seems to be in thinking that Republicans are opposed to excessive spending. Republicans are huge fans of excessive spending, (as long as it goes to their pet projects). What they're opposed to is paying the bill for that spending when it comes due.

And now they're unemployed?

Well, I wasn't sure if I wanted to say "Probably at work and now they're unemployed" or "Probably at work where they should be," so I left it open...the latter is probably more accurate.

Opinion pieces don't count, and all the Pew data prove is that Republicans don't like Obama:P

From GALLUP www.gallup.com/poll/117598/Obama-Averages-Approval-First-Quarter.aspx

"Obama's 63% first-quarter [approval rating] average matches the historical average of 63% for elected presidents' first quarters since 1953".

What was Bush's approval 5 months ago? 30% or less?

So what does the new prez's first quarter approval ratings having anything to do with a presidents leaving approval rating? An excellent job of comparing apple to oranges.

Proper context? Did you even read the article? It clearly refutes your assertion, making explicit comparisons about the divided public opinions about Presidents, past and president. If that's not proper context, then you should state your assertion more clearly, because, as stated, the article proved it to be incorrect.

Glad you liked it.

What it has "to do with" is that the US public likes what they have now much much more than what they had a few months ago, and rushmc's perpetual whining about Obama just shows how out of touch he is.

This aint about Bush. But you cant seem to stay on topic . My comment were also not about popularity. Even though tere were many who exceed Obama at the same relative time in a presidency. Including Bush

Now, back on topic
