warpedskydiver 0 #26 April 14, 2009 No offense to Bill biut I hear these weird analogies coming from people who are not familiar with firearms. I think it would be best to learn by participating. Through education and hands on experience there becomes familiarity and safety. If people who are afraid of or against guns become familiarized the mystique vanishes and in fact they seem to be less worried about them. It would be great if every soccer mom or cubicle rat would know how to check a firearm to see if it is loaded and the proper handling of them. There would be far less accidents. Heck some crimes may be stopped as well. One story a long while back was about a lady who was against guns so bad she would not look at or touch them. Her BIL was an avid shooter and won a bet ( I don't remember what about) but she had to learn about guns and go shooting. She did not continue to do so but learned enough about them to realize some punks were robbing her with an airsoft pistol. She hit them with her car. TomAiello 26 #27 April 14, 2009 QuoteIn California, a wide-body 9mm holds 10 rounds. In California, a wide-body .45 or .45 Super holds 10 rounds. No capacity trade-off so why not get the more powerful gun? Recoil and follow up shot ability? Personally, for a home defense handgun in my home, I'd go with 9mm, because there's a chance my wife would be the one using it, and the recoil of a 9 firing standard pressure rounds is going to be much easier for her to deal with. Honestly, the debate about caliber for home defense handguns seems a little overblown to me. In a home invasion scenario, if you've fired even one shot and the bad guys aren't running, you've got a major problem, because they're probably a hit squad.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
