shropshire 0 #1 April 8, 2009 Cop shoves guy in the back - he walked away but later died in hospital He wasn't even a protester (not that, that would have been an excuse) he was walking home from work. clicky (.)Y(.) airdvr 210 #2 April 8, 2009 That is over the top. I don't believe he was just "walking home from work", and there isn't sufficient audio to hear what he said to the cops that set the one off. Still, no excuse for that type of reaction. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
sundevil777 102 #3 April 8, 2009 It certainly looks inexcusable. However, it also looks like the guy may have been ignoring orders from the police to get moving, get out of the area. Instead he is barely walking, hands in his pockets, head down, intentionally disobeying orders from the police. I do not believe that a person just walking home from work would behave that way if he didn't intend to be at least a passive protester (as if he would have been sitting down/refusing to move). A passive protester shouldn't be treated as he was, but he surely didn't look as innocent as suggested.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
shropshire 0 #4 April 8, 2009 The news report just said that the guy was a newspaper seller, who had just finished working at a Tube station nearby and was on his way home. Tis what is being reported. (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome

philh 0 #6 April 8, 2009 It looks bad on video but without the audio its hard to say for sure . Also the press reported he died of a heart attack, I would hope they would re examine the cause of death in light of the video . A heart attack is not likely to be caused by a shove like that, but another look is certainly warranted.

It appears at 2:01, a mysterious young man with a back pack enters the frame and then appears to try and help the man get up, but he only stays there long enough to possibly inject him with a poisonous substance and then just walks away....I smell a conspiracy!Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are... shropshire 0 #9 April 17, 2009 A 2nd Post Mortem is provisionally suggesting that the CoD for Ian Tomlinson, the guy attacked by the copper was not a heart attack but internal bleeding. clicky (.)Y(.) dreamdancer 0 #12 April 18, 2009 Quote i smell police brutality and manslaughter charges (my baton made me do it m'lud) The police officer caught on film attacking Ian Tomlinson during the G20 protests could face manslaughter charges after a second postmortem concluded that the newspaper vendor died from internal bleeding and not a heart attack. The dramatic new evidence, made public yesterday, provoked an immediate response from the victim's family, who said that they had been "badly misled" by police. It emerged last night that the Metropolitan police officer who had been suspended from duty has now been interviewed under caution on suspicion of manslaughter by investigators from the Independent Police Complaints Commission. Yesterday's developments came 10 days after the Guardian first revealed footage of Tomlinson being struck and pushed to the ground minutes before he collapsed and died in the City of London. The New York fund manager who handed the Guardian the video evidence said last night that he felt vindicated by the findings. "Now I'm glad I came forward. It's possible Mr Tomlinson's death would have been swept under the rug otherwise. You needed something incontrovertible. In this case it was the video." Tomlinson, a 47-year-old newspaper vendor, had been attempting to walk home from work the when he collapsed and died around 7.25pm on 1 April. Moments earlier he had been attacked from behind by a constable from the Met's territorial support group near the Bank of England. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/apr/18/g20-ian-tomlinson-deathstay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding
Andy9o8 2 #13 April 18, 2009 QuoteTomlinson's son Paul King said: "We believe we were badly misled by police about the possible role they played in Ian's death. First we were told that there had been no contact with the police, then we were told that he died of a heart attack. Now we know that he was violently assaulted by a police officer and died from internal bleeding. As time goes on we hope that the full truth about how Ian died will be made known." Quote"A subsequent post-mortem examination was conducted by another consultant forensic pathologist, Dr Nat Cary, instructed by the IPCC and by solicitors acting for the family of the late Mr Tomlinson. QuoteThe first postmortem results - which were released by police - said Tomlinson had died of a heart attack. The second postmortem was ordered by the family's legal team and the IPCC after the footage was broadcast.
