lawrocket 3 #1 March 21, 2009 You know - I'm actually now past the anger at AIG bonuses. That damned Vinnie. And now that I'm past it, I'm questioning whether I merely took the bait. When the fit hits the shan, the traditional response for those in charge is to point blame elsewhere. FDR did a great job of this. His response to the recession was to mount a rhetorical campaign against corporate greed and grow the government. It was corporate greed that caused the problems and they should be punished. This took people's attention off of problems. "Well, FDR may not be doing much good but he's punishing someone for it." Are we seeing this today? Rhetorical sidesteps? Dodd's actions got me to question this heavily. He has been one of the most vocal of everyone against the bonuses, etc. It has me thinking these leaders don't know what they are doing. So they are doing a sidestep to take attention off of their incompetence and onto others' greed. My wife is hotter than your wife.
Beachbum 0 #2 March 22, 2009 I think that part of being a politician these days is mastering that ability (however you want to term it ... sidestepping, spin, etc.) ... so it is really hard to tell when it is or is not!! My guess is that in this case, it is redirection. As long as you are happy with yourself ... who cares what the rest of the world thinks?
