kelpdiver 2 #1 March 21, 2009 With this rush to seize bonuses paid out to execs, maybe we should go further. Does GW Bush deserve a pension for the rest of his life in Crawford? Obama wouldn't initiate this action, esp right after the recent President declined to engage in politics. But Pelosi/Reid (or much more likely, a loon like Conyers) would have no reluctance, just as some suddenly were interested again in prosecuting the Ex Prez as soon as the election was complete. And since we've made it this far, it's certainly time to go after politicians who act outraged only when the public finds out what they knew all along. rwieder 0 #6 March 21, 2009 Yeah, you're right again. Never mind the imbecile costs us trillions of buckaroonies in the war in Iraq. Since he performed in such a stellar manner in that effort, yeah let's pay that fucker!-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

TheAnvil 0 #8 March 21, 2009 I think the President's retirement pay is just about right...perhaps a slight bit high, but in the right range. Congress, on the other hand, needs a complete revamp of its retirement system. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! jerryzflies 0 #9 March 21, 2009 Why are you equating pensions with bonuses? The execs getting undeserved bonuses are the people who have destroyed a large part of the pensions of millions of working Americans. Even though Bush did his job badly, his pension isn't a bonus. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
kelpdiver 2 #10 March 21, 2009 Quote Why are you equating pensions with bonuses? Because in the case of the President, it is more like a bonus - it's not based on time and years of contributions, it's a flat value. This poll is really directly to people like you, who refuse to accept that some people at these banks do deserve their bonuses, and also have no reluctance to steal money back that's already been paid. You're a perfect candidate to steal it from Bush now (a guy that's very unlikely to make the sort of money on the speaking tour that Clinton enjoys). tbrown 26 #11 March 21, 2009 As much as I couldn't stand Bush as President, he has lawfully earned his pension. He was after all elected to the office twice, even if the first time was by a single vote on the Supreme Court. Nixon got his pension, and he was nearly impeached and had to be pardoned to stay out of prison, so that should settle it. Presidents, members of Congress, Supreme Court Justices and Federal judges get their pensions by serving. Not by whether some of the people don't like the way they did their jobs. I'd like to wish Mr. Bush a long, happy, and QUIET retirement on his "ranch" in Texas. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !

I guess I'm still looking for people to explain the difference.
