hwt 0 #1 March 4, 2009 Obama's plan for change has another twist. let the government hand out money to the poor. I guess the people's choice for which charities are most important to themselves doesn't matter to them. The government knows best http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/feb/27/charity-tax-challenged-by-political-friends/
Andy9o8 2 #2 March 4, 2009 Re-read the article you linked. Both your thread title and your post are inaccurate and misleading: QuoteObamas proposal to limit contributions 1. The proposal does not seek to limit charitable contributions; it seeks to cap the amount of contributions that would be tax-deductible. QuoteI guess the people's choice for which charities are most important to themselves doesn't matter to them. The government knows best 2. The proposal does not seek to limit the types of charities contributed-to at all. Just would cap the total amount of tax-deductibility. 3. Thank you, also, for conveniently neglecting to mention that the proposal is opposed by Congressional Democrats, as well.

I fail to see why any contributions by anyone should affect the taxes they pay. It takes just as much to run the country whether or not you contribute to your preacher's next Mercedes. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
