1969912 0 #2 February 22, 2009 Clearly not, since Pres. Obama obviously didn't author the bill. My guess is that the cartoon was intended ti depict Congress as being chimp-like. I can, however, see some "touchy" people flipping out over the cartoon - expect more of that sort of thing from them.... I can, however, see some "touchy" people flipping out over the cartoon - expect more of that sort of thing from them.... The cartoon was a satire of two news articles; the rediculous stimulus bill and the chimp who was actually shot to death last week. Has no one heard the express, "you could train a monkey to do that" or "even a monkey could ______?" The sitmulus is such a joke that "even a monkey could've written it." It just so happens a chimp (not a monkey, but that's a different topic) was shot and is making big headlines. I never in a thousand years would've made the connection between that cartoon and racism towards the President without the idiots picketing and the media pointing it out. It's a stupid excuse for Al Sharpton and company to try and stay in the lime light. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. What elected official would that be, pray tell? It's certainly not Obama, since the President doesn't author bills. I'm pretty sure it's not Congressman Obey (the author of the bill) - no resemblance. I guess there's only 999,999 monkeys left to write the works of Shakespeare, now.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Andy9o8 2 #6 February 22, 2009 I think it's necessary to get into Sean Delonas's head, so I Googled his name. Pretty controversial guy. likearock 2 #11 February 23, 2009 Quote I guess there's only 999,999 monkeys left to write the works of Shakespeare, now. Right. And if that had been the gist of the caption we probably wouldn't be talking about it. Instead, the caption was that no one was left to write the bill after a single monkey was killed. Delonas must have had someone in mind.

rehmwa 2 #15 February 23, 2009 Here's a different question. If the columnists did NOT intend to refer to the pres, then do those that incorrectly think it does automatically qualify as uber-racists, and knee jerkers? ... billvon 3,116 #18 February 23, 2009 I don't think he intended it to mean that. But if he did not think it could be interpreted that way, then he's not perceptive enough to be a political cartoonist.

It was definitely a tie-in to the chimp shooting, but that will be lost on anyone viewing the cartoon a week that event transpired.
