happythoughts 0 #4 February 20, 2009 QuoteI was watching this morning before I went out to work on my car. I could not agree more! Why are my taxes going to some dumb ass who couldnt pay his/her mortgage? The way I look at it, most people want to keep their house. They wanted nothing more than to go to work, to keep their job, and pay their mortgage. However, there are politicians who have supported the destruction of the working class in the US. As jobs leave, so does the ability to pay a mortgage. Until people can hold jobs in the US, there is no "program" or "bailout" that will actually help. So far, all the Wall St bailout did was make sure that rich people didn't lose money. It hasn't helped the other 99% of the US. For some reason, Canada didn't have a banking system collapse. Why is the US rewarding the thieves that caused the problem?
jm951 0 #5 February 20, 2009 As far as "jobs leaving the country", how many jobs are being done by illegals? If the free market were allowed to function, the wages of those jobs would have to rise in order to attract labor. I think Smith's invisible hand should be allowed to do its job. In addition, how many illegals are receiving entitlement handouts? What is that cost? How much of the "Porkulus" bill is going to infrastructure jobs, jobs that are often have very high numbers of illegals working them. Think the money paid in wages to the illegals is all going to stay in the country? Finally, look up HR54. The left used to say the conservatives were the facists. Who's trying to control the people now through economic and other means?
happythoughts 0 #6 February 20, 2009 Yes, when I was 16, I worked in a packing house. Stacking boxes of tomatoes on to a pallet. There were migrant farm workers who followed the crops around the country. These were not illegals. There wasn't a lot of "homeless" at the time. They were called hobos. All that meant was that you followed the work. I worked with them during the season.
