You yourself have said you are living above your means. Why the anger to other's who do the same?

He said his military pay check is enough to cover all of his bills. That's not living outside your means. His second job pays for the social life. If the job goes, the social life goes. That's not living outside your means. That's living responsibly. Losing the second job and sustaining the social life with credit cards would be living outside your means.

Just proves that people will make stupid decisions when left to themselves. People do need some form of protection against themselves.

Some form of protection, yes. Continual handouts from the government, no. All that does is lower society to the lowest common denominator.

No mercenary vibe. Just painting a scenario where he wouldn't be able to go that route if he were to lose his job with uncle sam.

Jump to conclusions much?

And to kelpdiver, this is whta he said:

"How dare i work two jobs to pay for the mortgage I can barely afford. How dare I stay current on my payments which should belong to someone well above my income bracket."

He's military, not a civilian employee of Blackwater - that's the point. He'll still be in the military when we leave Iraq.

Nope, sure don't.

I clearly wrote, if he loses his job and....

Try and keep up with your reading. I know you desperately want to bash me, but in your haste you may not want to forget to read whole sentences.

I still classify them as mercenaries. I know there is a semantics argument there. Like Prisoner of War and Enemy Combatant.

Hey bro, how bout you learn the whole story about why I ended up in a home that cost so much before you jump to conclusions about whether or not I was responsible in buying it.

It was a joint purchase between myself and another soldier, between the two of us our combined income was on par with what a reasonable mortgage should be. His situation took a turn for the worse so I bought him out. I took a good look at my finances and decided to give up some of the normal comforts and extras I'm used to so I could help a friend out. I'm still living within my means. Get your damn facts straight. And if I did lose my job with the military through no fault of my own I don't feel it would be unreasonable of me to ask for help from the government while I got back on my feet. I have said before those who lost their jobs due to the economy deserve a helping hand. The people who could barely afford their mortgage in the first place then lost it because their rate went up or they weren't willing to make the sacrifices to continue paying it are the ones I'm pissed at.

When did such a large group of sniveling babies asking for handouts because they don't want to WORK to improve their standing become the majority in this country, its disgusting.
History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.

Actions have consequences, as the people that grossly overbought are now finding out.

This is true. Unfortunately many people who were responsible are also paying the price. Having a 15% downpayment doesn't help if the market falls 26% in one year and you get laid off.
I would like to see what percentage of those in default refinanced their mortgage for larger amounts for purposes other than home improvement vs people who just bought on the "low interest for the first year" plan and couldn't keep up.

I can only go by what you post on the forums yourself.

Yup, most people feel that their situation is special and they should be helped by the government, while everybody else are sniveling babies.

That statement is just funny. I am jumping to conclusions about whether or not you are responsible for buying your house? Later on in this same post you say how you decided to buy this house

Indeed, it cures almost everything. See below.

Sure worked for Bush, didn't it? He cut taxes and the economy is booming.
If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
