Hard for the corporations to argue in the face of obvious abuses by their execs.

Congrats to you and I mean that. The super rich are not the problem. It is the congress making themselves the supre rich that is. there are bad apples in every group. I know there are bad CEO's But the congress has a barell full of rotten ones and a few good ones (very few)and those are trying to keep from rotting themselves. Perfect example are Dodd, Reid, Schumer, Mr Ethics and many of their friends"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Since you are in the top 5% you probably realize that each share of stock gets a vote for the board of directors, so if the management isn't making enough money for you, you can them. Most of us realize that corporate jets facilitate efficient travel for high talent individuals, and we don't envy the high roller image. Additionally, the corporate jet industry employs countless peeps and contributes to a robust economy. Interesting the other day that Oshit was terribly upset at the purchase of a Falcon and the next day said "spending is the point!" of stimulating the economy. I guess only government spending. The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

Most of us realize that corporate jets facilitate efficient travel for high talent individuals, and we don't envy the high roller image. Although subject to abuse, the freedom from the "efficient" routes and "reliable" schedules of the airlines are advantageous for a lot more than just "high talent" individuals. My father was a research chemist and he flew a chartered plane from Wisconsin over to Lower Michigan several times. Consider the time involved flying to Chicago, then Detroit, then the destination (taking an entire day) then 5 or six hours of actual business, then another day for the return trip. Or you spend 90 minutes in a light twin (Beech Baron) flying directly across Lake Michigan. Which is really cheaper?"There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." ryoder 1,590 #12 February 12, 2009 I can go along with the argument that private jets save time, but to buy a corporate jet that will spend almost all of it's time sitting on the ground is just irresponsible when there is a cheaper alternative that provides the same convenience: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NetJets"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. piper17 1 #20 February 12, 2009 ...and the Pratt & Whitney Canada business jet group just laid off 1,000 workers. So much for stimulating economies. I wonder if 1,000 workers will blame the US Congress. Too bad. I seem to remember after the 2006 elections Nancy Pelosi berating the USAF for a larger jet aircraft for her to use commuting between DC and California. How is it okay for Nancy to run around the country on USAF jet aircraft on the taxpayers' dime but not okay for businesses to use aircraft. Why aren't the airlines good enough for her. I imagine a lot in congress are using military business-jet aircraft for personal travel besides Ms. Pelosi."A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition"...Rudyard Kipling

I agree with your overall point there, http://news.yahoo.com/s/usnews/20090127/ts_usnews/cbomuchofstimulustohiteconomyby2010]but the underlined is funny to me. Part of the argument against the package is that it's not stimulus, it's a long term spending bill being puhed as immediately necessary. ------------------------------------ If a company, or a person, has the means to do so, what's the problem with owning a jet? I still haven't heard any semblance of a reasonable response. If I had the funds, there'd be two jets and a boat out back. If the shit storm of corporate jet bashing hadn't started, there might be a few thousand people still working. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
