nigel99 689 #8 January 30, 2009 My brother is married to an Irish woman and during the NI troubles he decided to have "fun" and put on his black balaclava when walking into a Belfast pub. His wife nearly shat herself - he was just having fun being from Africa. Same trip a bottle of whisky fell from the overhead locker in the plane and knocked a passenger out - that also resulted in lots of jokes. That little misplaced attempt at humour could have gone down very badly indeed; and I don't mean with his Mrs. Quote Same trip a bottle of whisky fell from the overhead locker in the plane and knocked a passenger out - that also resulted in lots of jokes. What were the resultant jokes? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' Do you believe they'd apprehend a possible rapist and take him to the police station? They'd in fact take great delight in smashing his face and body to pieces, because he deserved it, right? Rainbo 0 #14 February 2, 2009 He wasn't saying their tactic was honorable, Her was saying the "goal" was, to protect the women and girls in their neighborhood. Masked packs of vigilantes will probably never give you a good outcome. Neighborhood watch and patrol programs exits in many towns and cities with the full support of local law enforcement, and they are not considered vigilantes. I can guaranty you however that if some pervert ever abused my daughter they had better hope the law finds them before I do, because I would definitely go vigilante...Rainbo TheSpeedTriple - Speed is everything "Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting." vortexring 0 #16 February 2, 2009 Quote He wasn't saying their tactic was honorable, Her was saying the "goal" was, to protect the women and girls in their neighborhood. That's fair enough - I've some doubts towards the groups goal though. I'm sure there are some with honourable intentions (despite the balaclavas), as I'm equally sure there are some with the simple intention of doing over someone else. Would a rapist deserve being done over? Indeed. Do I want gangs of dickheads going out looking for them with the intention of doing them over? No. And any vigilante gang of teenagers in tracksuits, wearing balaclavas, carrying machete's, whilst posing to the press are dickheads in my book. Quote Masked packs of vigilantes will probably never give you a good outcome.
