bodypilot90 0 #1 January 28, 2009 barry's trillion buck baloney Hard to believe the messiah is going to print money for condems, or is it? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pelosi says birth control will help the economy. Is she right? Posted: 05:00 PM ET From CNN’s Jack Cafferty: The $825-billion stimulus package that President Obama wants on his desk by mid-February is supposed to start turning the economy around. The President talked about transparency and has even announced that a Web site will give an accounting so people can keep track of how the money is spent. He’s also vowed that there will be no pork in the bill. House Speaker Pelosi recently said that contraception would “reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.” Over the weekend lawmakers got on their soap boxes. Democrats were out peddling the plan and Republicans were pointing out the problems. On ABC, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended hundreds of millions of dollars in the stimulus package earmarked for family planning. She said family planning reduces costs and explained that the stimulus plan includes assistance to states and part of that includes children’s health and education. That includes contraception, which she said will, "reduce costs to the states and to the federal government." What exactly did she mean? Are the millions of dollars for birth control supposed to stop people from having babies? She’s starting to sound like Chairman Mao. When asked if she had any apologies for those remarks, Madam Speaker answered, "no apologies." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gawain 0 #6 January 28, 2009 I personally think that this component was floated by the democrats so the rest of the pork-spending-non-stimulus-package can pass as a fait accompli. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! airdvr 210 #7 January 28, 2009 Actually if you can get the kids to make less babies it is more cost effective. I just don't see it happening. Never liked condums...kinda like taking a shower with a raincoat on . The'pull and paint' method was preferable albeit a bit more risky. Please don't dent the planet. Belgian_Draft 0 #8 January 28, 2009 I think we should start using condoms as currency. At least then a dollar would be worth a fuck. The left and right wing can't be slowly losing their collective minds because they both lost them a long time ago ..."That looks dangerous." wolfriverjoe 1,523 #16 January 29, 2009 QuoteIs it my imagination, or is the right wing slowly losing its collective mind? No more than usual, and not any more than the extreme left. It seems that the extremes on both sides are becoming more and more vocal, while the moderates are becoming marginalized and less interested and less involved. The primary election in Massachusetts where Joe Lieberman was defeated comes to mind. It seems like the farther out one side moves, the other moves out in response. Andy9o8 2 #17 January 29, 2009 QuoteThe primary election in Massachusetts where Joe Lieberman was defeated comes to mind. Connecticut. And Lieberman lost the Democratic primary there not because he was too moderate, but because he was abandoning core platform planks of the Democrats and shifting his loyalty over to Republican positions; in particular, over the Iraq war. And in reality that's not the same thing as moderation.
