Do you know a friend of a friend who owns a ranch where they hunt pigs?

That may be do-able... why do you think I want to get a 'plinker' and a 'hunting' rifle? :)

Have you ever hunted pigs? If not, make it do-able! I use a Remington 721, .30-06 with a 3x9 scope. It's amazing, how fast those suckers are! They are sure a 'skill tester'. I hope, you get to do it!

When you say pigs, do you mean Wild Boar? Or domestic type pigs that've gone wild? Only ask as freshly smoked Wild Boar is, well, beyond delicious!:)

'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

I was referring to feral hogs. Some of which have crossed with Russian boars in the wild. Here, they are responsible for a lot of damage to water lines, calves, fences and so-on. We've had people from CDC take samples of dead hogs and the results were pretty scarey.

I think he is talking about javalina down there in West Texas. I dont think a javalina can interbreed with hogs.

In Florida where I learned to hunt there are Eurasian Wild Boar that were imported.. and there are also hogs that were domesticated and got away...feral hogs.. the things interbreed and the hybrids can be very agressive. My uncle had a bad leg from one that got hold of him and ripped him up pretty badly.

A blacksmith friend (now deceased) made several hundred dollars one week making spearheads for a bunch of guys that were going after the feral hogs on horseback... now THAT is some big brass clanking ones!

Where I learned to hunt deer in N FL..... it was saw palmetto thickets.... you kept one eye on the trail and the other lookin for a big enough tree you can climb if you ran into a big ole boar... and carrying a .30-30 I was feeling a little undergunned for one.
