Ron 10 #1 January 18, 2009 Quotehttp://money.cnn.com/2009/01/16/news/economy/california.reut/index.htm?postversion=2009011614 SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -- California will not pay tax refunds for individuals and business that overpaid 2008 taxes, in order to conserve dwindling cash for priority payments including school spending and debt repayment required by state law, the state's controller office said Friday. Other state checks to be postponed for 30 days include payments for vendors who provide services and products to the state government and state checks to a million aged, blind and disabled Californians to cover rent and utilities bills, State Controller John Chiang's office said in a statement. Various state officials have been warning in recent weeks that the most populous U.S. state's coffers would run dry if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and lawmakers fail to balance the state's current budget. The governor in his state of the state speech Thursday said California faces insolvency within weeks if it does not balance its books. Gawain 0 #3 January 18, 2009 Quoteso can the people who owe money refuse to pay in order to "conserve dwindling cash"? I wouldn't be surprised. They are risking a serious tax revolt, and if this sh*t is still going on when I move back out that way, I'll help with any recalls of the legislature. Recalling the "governator" at this point is moot.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! JerryBaumchen 1,468 #5 January 18, 2009 Hi Ron, Quoteinclude payments for vendors who provide services and products to the state government Then those vendors will refuse to do business with you ( State of California ) and you will have to go to the next higher supplier. Not a way to keep costs down. JerryBaumchen

Its the ECONOMY stupid.... It seems like pointless baiting to criticize me for statements that I never made. As you said, Gov S was never actually convicted of any crime. However, I differ from you in two ways. I don't believe that multiple women will make those types of invalid claims. I categorically state that I reject that behavior. It is sad that you criticize me for character, but I won't hold you to my standard. I hope that you won't continue to wear it as a badge of honor. I can't imagine. Clinton did screw up the economy. He also destroyed the respect for the US in the eyes of other countries and made us a target for terrorist attacks that ultimately emboldened terrorists to attack the continental US. His policies sucked from an economic and military perspective. His character weakened the position of women who oppose physical abuse and harassment. He was the enemy of women in America. Good hair though.
lawrocket 3 #12 January 18, 2009 First - the economy when Clinton left was seriously damaged. Perhaps you were too focused on his bj's to remember him as anything but the coming of the Lord! Second - I don't blame Clinton for the dot com bust and half year of economic retraction mess he left Bush to deal with even though Bush couldn't and didn't do anythingt to fix it. Cali's problem isn't Ahnold - the legislature here is as fucked up as you could imagine. Recall - governors don't pass budgets. Legislatures do. That's why he calls on the legislature to fix it! It's their job. My wife is hotter than your wife.

happythoughts 0 #18 January 18, 2009 QuoteSecond - I don't blame Clinton for the dot com bust Before Clinton, corporations would receive tax benefits from training new employees and providing education. At one IT company, they hired blocks of college students and put them through a six-week training program. They came out with immediately employable skills. The Clinton administration killed those programs and then actively promoted outsourcing under the ruse that there were no educated/trained IT professionals. The Clintons tried to remove all limits on H1-B visa limits. -They have tried to remove education incentives for US companies in the IT industry. -They promote outsourcing. -They promote giving jobs in the US to overseas job seekers when there are equally qualified US candidates. They spent years weakening the US economy in the IT sector.
happythoughts 0 #19 January 18, 2009 Quote Quote Is that even legal? It's as legal as warrant-less wiretaps. I am unsure how the actions of entity B relate to a discussion of the actions of entity A, except as a ruse to avoid discussing the original issue. Otherwise, there would be no rule of law anywhere and no clear discussion of any event.

happythoughts 0 #21 January 18, 2009 QuoteAnd what was the National Debt Under President Blow Job? Don't change the oil in your car or do anything to maintain it. Think of the money that you'll save today. It happens in corporate America all the time. The VP cancels valid long-term programs to make his stock options look good for one quarter. Those decisions decay the long-term health of the corporation. Betrayal - theme for the Clinton family. Just another service that they offer to the American people. She didn't call herself D-Punjab for no reason. The Clintons have been outsourcing American jobs and importing foreign workers as fast as they can. A $3 million campaign donation seems small, but it's not a good quality soul that they are buying. The sold the Calif IT industry out as quick as they could. Destroying the present and the future takes effort.

Ahhhh.... a fair description of the last 8 years in American politics, eh? A fair description of the discussion of any topic on Speakers Corner. I fully expect that one day, an actor will be shot by a politician and someone will post that Lincoln was shot by an actor first - so that somehow makes it ok. It is just a technique to avoid actually arriving at a conclusion on one topic. I don't know why it is such a difficult concept.
