FallingOsh 0 #2 January 3, 2009 The best thing they could do right now is plow in with trucks full of humanitarian aid for the civilians. I think it would help them more than anything else. Both the Palestinians and the world would view the situation differently. I don't think it'll happen, but I wish it would. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
shropshire 0 #3 January 3, 2009 You're right but I can't see it happening. Doesn't seem to be that way that things work in that part of the world, unfortunately (.)Y(.) Gawain 0 #4 January 3, 2009 QuoteQuoteIsraeli ground troops have entered the Gaza Strip, Israeli military officials have confirmed, a week after the offensive against Hamas began. clicky That entire article omits the fact that Hamas had been throwing rockets indiscriminately even during the cease-fire. Then, after the cease fire, some 80-100 rockets the next day... Hamas has proven it can't run a country. Even with tainted outside aid. My only hope is that as soon as Israeli tanks are done flattening Hamas' stranglehold, that there are trucks full of relief followed by Red-Cross, Red-Crescent. Then, I'd like to see a neutral occupying force while the Palestinians pick up the pieces, how about Switzerland or Sweden, bring in Abbas from the West Bank and start fresh. It's not like Gaza isn't in a good location...Eastern Mediterranean...So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Gawain 0 #6 January 3, 2009 Quote I don't know mate .,.. but it just seems like the innocents always pick up the shitty end of the stick in these situations No doubt, but their losses are meaningless when you have media coverage like that. Good God man!! Did everyone suddenly forget that at the end of the Palestinian mandate, the almighty UN had a plan, which was rejected by the Palestinians? Since then, Israel has been in more conflicts than any other nation on earth, and they're still there. The Palestinians need to wake up and be thankful for what they have and get on with it. The Arab world doesn't care about them, they just want to use them to keep inciting Israel. If we can start being more direct in our intervention of funding from Iran, I think Hamas would shrink quickly...So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! airdvr 210 #7 January 3, 2009 Agreed. I don't think this is an all out end run, more like a move to take some ground and then open negotiations again. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
TheAnvil 0 #8 January 3, 2009 If Hamas wanted peace, they would not have launched rockets into Israel. Launch rockets - get the shit kicked out of you. Don't launch rockets - have some peace. Seems pretty simple to me. All of these protestors who were silent when Hamas was launching rockets against Israel really don't have a bit of credibility when they call for peace. DSE 5 #9 January 3, 2009 It's more than just the rockets. It's the tunnels that are continually being dug/used beneath the barricade walls to smuggle in bombs and incendiary devices...The tunnels, the system there, and the extremely evident restraint the Israeli's exhibit towards the Palestinians is almost inconceivable. Spend 2-3 weeks near the Gaza...regardless of how liberal you might be, you'll understand. And wonder why the Israeli's simply haven't wiped the Palestinians off the map. tbrown 26 #10 January 4, 2009 Daniel Schorr had some very interesting analysis this morning on NPR, where he's working even though he's now over ninety years old. As he sees it, both Gaza and the 2006 war in Lebanon with Hezbollah are backed by Iran. the Iranian government is fighting wars-by-proxy against Israel by supporting these groups. It's something the Soviets, Americans, and Chinese have been doing for decades in other parts of the world. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
